PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Personal Equipment Technician manages, performs, and schedules inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE), associated supplies, and inventories assets in support of related T-38 and WB-57.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Inspects, maintains, packs and adjusts aircrew flight equipment such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, aircrew night vision and other ocular systems, anti-G garments, aircrew eye and respiratory protective equipment. Repairs fabric and rubber components, including protective clothing, thermal radiation barriers, flotation equipment, and various parachutes.
• Supports high-altitude operations involving WB-57 aircraft, including the maintenance, inspection, and operational readiness of Full Pressure Suits and associated life support equipment. Candidates will ensure all pressure suit equipment—regulators, controllers, and related systems—are maintained to the highest standards for pilot safety and mission success.
• Evaluates problems and determines the feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes. Evaluates work orders for fabrication of authorized items.​
• Installs and removes aircraft-installed AFE. Uses various types of test equipment such as altimeters, oxygen testers, leakage testers, radio testers, and other types of testers to conduct reliability testing on AFE.
• Maintains inspection and accountability documentation on AFE issued to aircrews or prepositioned on aircraft using NAMIS.
• May perform Designated System Inspector (DSI) duties.
• The Life Support Specialists may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
• Support/Lead water survival training courses in support of aircrew qualifications and NASA Center operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred.
• Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members.
• Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
• Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
• Ability to follow a process.
• Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
• Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills.  Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista Tactical Services, LLC goals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of aircraft maintenance life support experience with fixed wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft required.
• Experience supporting a NASA/DoD contract.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field required.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
