Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our Endoscopy team at the Chestnut Surgical Center at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Endoscopy Technician provides direct and indirect clinical patient care and technical support in a diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology/endoscopy practice setting. Working under the direct, on-site supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or physician, this role supports patients and the clinical team throughout diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
The Endoscopy Technician plays an important role in creating a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for patients and staff. This position provides hands-on technical support during procedures, assists with patient care activities, processes specimens, maintains equipment and supplies, and helps ensure endoscopy rooms are prepared and ready for patient care.
The Endoscopy Technician Will:
Assist the RN and/or physician with delegated patient care activities, including collecting data such as vital signs to support an objective assessment of patient needs and concerns.
Assist the physician and RN with implementation of the established plan of care and during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy, including administration of Fleet enemas and tap water enemas as directed.
Process specimens in accordance with established procedures and guidance.
Provide endoscopy room turnover and technical support to promote an efficient procedure environment.
Maintain room supplies and equipment, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
Clean and disinfect endoscopes, rooms, and equipment in accordance with established procedures and standards.
Respond to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician while helping maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Complete required documentation and unit-related administrative tasks, including use of the CIS computer system, telephone communication, filing, and processing charges.
Participate in continuing education and organizational performance improvement activities and maintain knowledge of scope-of-practice, ethical, professional, and legal standards applicable to patient care.

Required Skills
Demonstrated experience as an Endoscopy Technician.
Ability to demonstrate competency in reading and mathematics, as verified by an aptitude test.
Ability to successfully complete the required orientation program.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, prioritize multiple activities, and work effectively with others.
Ability to maintain continuous mental and visual attention in a clinical environment.
Good hand-eye coordination, mechanical ability, and intact or corrected vision and hearing.
Ability to work independently and effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
Ability to meet the moderate physical strength and effort requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
At least one year of previous experience as an Endoscopy Technician.

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
