About this role

This 18-month fixed term role is the enterprise lead for People Advisory across Diageo Australia, covering Demand and Supply. The role provides practical, legally aligned advice, owns ER/IR case management, investigations and local policy governance, acts as a key shared service escalation route and leads priority P&C projects that simplify how we work and lift manager capability.

Protect and enable the business by ensuring Australian people practices are legally compliant, fair, practical and consistently applied. The role owns complex ER/IR-heavy matters, policy development, investigations, EBA/union/Award governance and manager coaching, while driving P&C projects and transformation that improve controls, culture and ways of working.

You will be responsible for:

  • People Advisory & Manager Capability
    • Provide practical advice to managers on complex people matters, including performance, conduct, absence, grievances, exits, redundancy/change and policy application. Build capability and confidence in managers.
  • ER/IR Case Management & Investigations
    • Own and project manage ER/IR cases, formal investigations and complex employee matters end-to-end. Ensure fair process, quality documentation, clear recommendations, appropriate escalation and consistent outcomes.
  • Policy, Legal Requirements & Governance
    • Own local P&C policies, principles, guidelines, manager tools and governance. Drive updates so practices meet Australian legal requirements, Awards, EBA obligations, global standards and business needs.
  • Industrial Relations, EBA & Stakeholder Management
    • Coordinate EBA, union engagement, Award interpretation and IR activity with Legal, Supply leaders, HRBPs and the P&C Director. Ensure readiness, records, risk visibility and constructive stakeholder engagement.
  • P&C Projects, Transformation & Simplification
    • Act as the standard home for priority HR projects where enterprise delivery is required. Lead policy/process transformation, simplification, tool adoption and change implementation to improve employee, manager and HR experience.

The required qualifications for this role are:

  • Demonstrated HR advisory and generalist experience with strong ER/IR capability.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Awards, EBA/union environments.
  • Experience managing complex ER matters, formal investigations, performance, conduct, absence, grievances, exits and redundancy/change processes.
  • Experience in developing HR policies, governance frameworks and manager enablement materials.
  • Ability to lead HR projects, continuous improvement, process simplification and change in a matrixed organisation.
