Role Overview

• Location: On-site (Oakbrook Terrace, IL)
• Schedule: 1st Shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST), Monday through Friday
• Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Your Mission as a PC Depot Technician

As a PC Depot Technician, you will play a critical role in computer deployment, workstation imaging, hardware configuration, asset lifecycle management, and technical support operations. Working within our depot environment, you will ensure laptops, desktop computers, peripherals, and related hardware are properly configured, documented, maintained, and ready for deployment.

You will collaborate with IT support teams, asset managers, and end users to deliver high-quality technology solutions while maintaining inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and security standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Build, image, configure, deploy, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, and peripheral devices.
• Configure computer workstations and peripheral equipment including printers, routers, monitors, and related hardware.
• Inspect computer hardware, components, and accessories to ensure proper functionality and performance.
• Install, configure, validate, and troubleshoot operating systems, drivers, software applications, and enterprise tools.
• Perform hardware diagnostics, repair, part replacement, and troubleshooting for workstation equipment.
• Maintain local networks and connectivity to support reliable performance and uptime.
• Ensure security and privacy standards are maintained across systems, devices, and network configurations.
• Provide user orientation and technical guidance on new equipment, software, and workplace technology.
• Coordinate upgrades, deployments, refresh cycles, and maintenance schedules to minimize user disruption.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and peripheral issues.
• Support asset lifecycle management including receiving, deployment, refresh, inventory tracking, and retirement of equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, deployment logs, asset documentation, and maintenance plans.
• Identify equipment shortages, replacement needs, and initiate ordering requests.
• Assist with workstation refresh projects, endpoint deployments, and technology rollout initiatives.
• Support desktop support and IT support operations by ensuring devices are deployment-ready and fully functional.

Additional Responsibilities

• Manage shipping and receiving activities for depot computer equipment.
• Handle physical and logical hardware inventory using Helix, Teams, and other depot management tools.
• Create, update, and maintain Depot Knowledge Base Articles (KBAs), technical documentation, and process guides.
• Maintain accurate hardware inventory records and support equipment lifecycle tracking.

What You Bring to the Team

Education & Experience

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma and 2–3 years of experience in desktop support, PC system support, computer deployment, depot operations, hardware support, or equivalent technical training.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred

• CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or related IT certifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The ideal PC Depot Technician will bring hands-on experience supporting desktop hardware, workstation deployments, asset management, computer imaging, and end-user technology support within a depot, service desk, or technical support environment.

• Proven experience as a PC Depot Technician, IT Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Hardware Technician, Deployment Technician, or similar technical role.
• Experience imaging, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows-based workstations and laptops.
• Strong knowledge of computer systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience supporting hardware inventory management, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle processes.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and end-user support abilities.
• Outstanding organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of internet security, data privacy, endpoint security, and technology deployment best practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, asset managers, logistics personnel, and end users.
• Experience working with ticketing systems, technical documentation, and knowledge management processes.
• Depot imaging, workstation deployment, hardware staging, or computer deployment experience is highly desirable.
