The Digital Accessibility Specialist is a 12-month, 15-20 hr/wk on campus position, responsible for supporting institutional compliance with ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 AA standards across digital academic content and instructional technologies. This role works with instructional designers, academic leadership, and campus partners to help evaluate, process, and remediate materials for digital accessibility.

Essential Duties:

  • Support institutional efforts to improve accessibility of digital academic content in alignment with ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements

  • Evaluate documents and media content to determine the correct remediation process

  • Collaborate with instructional designers to process documents and media through remediation companies

  • Convert or remediate instructional materials into accessible formats as needed (e.g., HTML/Canvas pages, accessible Word/PDF files, accessible slide decks).

  • Stay current on developments in digital accessibility standards, instructional accessibility practices, and higher education compliance requirements

  • Update accessibility documentation, checklists, examples, and FAQs

  • Assist with campus accessibility auditing, remediation tracking, and documentation efforts

  • Support faculty and staff use of accessibility evaluation and remediation tools (e.g., UDoIt accessibility tool, YuJa video hosting, document and media remediation workflows)

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission of Digital Learning and the College

Rate of Pay: $18.00 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification in Web Design or Digital Accessibility best practices

  • 1 year of experience supporting digital content design, delivery, or learning technologies

  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA Title II, and accessibility evaluation practices for documents and web/LMS content

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience directly supporting digital accessibility in a higher education setting

  • Experience coordinating with third-party vendors or document remediation services

  • Relevant certification such as IAAP CPACC or WAS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of digital accessibility principles and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards as applied to instructional content

  • Familiarity with ADA Title II requirements for higher education instructional materials and communications

  • Ability to review instructional content for accessibility barriers and recommend practical remediation strategies with guidance as needed

  • Proficiency with common instructional content formats (HTML, Word, PDF, PowerPoint, video)

  • Proficient communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accessibility concepts in clear, faculty-friendly language

  • Proficient organizational skills and ability to manage multiple support initiatives simultaneously

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement in digital learning
