Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is seeking a patient focused Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our driven Neurosurgery team working in the outpatient setting. We provide specialized and evidence-based approaches to diagnosing and treating pediatric conditions involving the brain and nervous system. Our team is dedicated to evaluating and treating infants, children, and teens. Essential Functions:

• Work both independently and as a team member to support the inpatient and outpatient team in the care of patients from the pre-natal period to young adulthood  
• Evaluate and manage pediatric neurosurgery outpatient patients, including history/physical examinations, coordination of care, order entry, documentation
• Evaluate, screen and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources
• Perform job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients
• Participate in weekly didactic meetings and conferences with dedication to lifelong learning
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement

Monday-Friday

Hours: 8a-5p

• No weekends or holidays

Required Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner:

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
• Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) program.
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or PNP-AC) recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

Physician Assistant

• Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
• LIC-Physician Assistant - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on
• Certification of Physician Assistants Upon Hire required

Both NP & PA:

• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required
• CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellent patient service, written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated continuous professional development activities/research.
