Job Summary

Design and development of illumination optics systems. Collaborates with cross-functional teams i.e. thermal & mechanical, electronics, and product architects to ensure high-quality optical solutions.

Key Areas of Responsibility
• Specialized in i.e. Illumination Optics. Translates product requirements in optical specifications, leads the selection of the optical architecture, design optimization and development of illumination optical systems to meet project specifications and offerings till release in the market.
• Responsible for the design, development, testing and documenting of a system, subsystem, or a component as part of an overall architecture. Ensure that engineering solutions are practical, efficient, and aligned with project goals and industry standards.
• Applies the latest technology and research findings/results into engineering designs solutions and design rules
• Works with an outside-in view in order to understand and fulfil customer and market requirements as well as competitive alternatives. Work closely with the global competence community and Research organization to stay updated with the latest insights in innovations and technical breakthroughs.
• Designs, realizes, tests (sub-) systems or components based on design requirements and produces specs for the product and propositions.
• Drives IP creation and protection (Patents, Trade secrets, Copyrights).
• Writes, updates and maintains development reports and project deliverables.
• Depending on grade, contributes to and drives technology road mapping.
• Depending on grade, provides coaching and mentoring within the team to support effective use of available knowledge and skills, both internally and externally.

Critical Experiences

• Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.

• 3+ years Experience in optical design and testing, with a focus on integrating optical solutions into engineering projects.

• 3+ years experience in mechanical design

• Strong background in optical engineering preferred.

•Optical design software experience like Lighttools, Tracepro, SPEOS, Zemax, CodeV, etc. Optical freeform design. 3D model building to work with mechanical, independent mechanical design capability is a big plus. 

•Knowledge optical material and process . And certification/knowledge of measurement equipment like Goniometer, Integrated sphere, etc.

•Willing to take challenge in new concept exploration and new idea landing, be target driven, eager to win.

•Able to be a proficient problem solver to identify the root cause of issue and find solution.

•Good interpersonal skills: active, open, motivational style, skilled in both English and Chinese.
