Description:

Oliver Wyman Vector is seeking an experienced Lead Aircraft Technical Specialist. This advanced-level role is part of a large team committed to auditing aircraft maintenance records and delivering the highest-quality products to clients. The Lead Aircraft Technical Specialist combines deep industry and technical expertise with workstream leadership, process ownership, quality assurance and approval, mentoring, and client/stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, accountability, inclusive leadership, continuous learning, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy and client confidentiality.

Role Expectations

• Operate as an advanced-level specialist with a deep understanding of aircraft records, continued airworthiness, configuration control, and the broader aviation maintenance environment.

• Influence and guide teams by establishing work methods, quality standards, and review processes; ensure adherence rather than serving only as an individual author.

• Lead defined workstreams within larger projects by developing workplans, tracking progress, prioritizing work, and raising risks or issues promptly.

• Mentor, train, and provide actionable feedback to specialists in the technical focus area, balancing delegation, direct content support, team efficiency, and development opportunities.

• Serve as a quality approver for internal and client-ready deliverables, taking accountability for both personal output and the output of others.

• Build and nurture relationships with clients, key stakeholders, and colleagues across capabilities, becoming a trusted go-to resource on technical topics.

• Ability to travel nationally and internationally, as required to support clients.

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of prior work-related experience in aircraft records or as an aircraft technical representative.

• Comprehensive understanding of applicable Federal or National Aviation Authority regulations concerning aircraft, engines, and appliances, including continued airworthiness, configuration control, and pertinent client manuals.

• 6+ years of experience performing relevant aspects of the qualifications and responsibilities with a Part 121 carrier.

• Extensive and comprehensive mastery of the skills required in the technical focus area, with the ability to teach and mentor others in those skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to frame problems, select appropriate frameworks, develop insightful hypotheses and solutions, lead team discussions, and secure team/client/project buy-in.

• High attention to detail while manipulating, reconciling, or managing large volumes of data.

• Proficiency in database management and auditing, with the ability to adapt, manipulate, or develop tools required for the area of expertise.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and other spreadsheet applications, Outlook, and Word; general knowledge of Google Drive.

• Working knowledge of client-based maintenance tracking systems such as Wizard, Merlin, Trax, Maintenix, and AMOS.

• Demonstrated and continually developing project management skills, including work planning, progress tracking, prioritization, risk mitigation, and deadline management.

• Effective written, verbal, presentation, and meeting-facilitation skills; able to create logical storylines, tailor communications to the audience, listen actively, and adapt to others' cues.

• Ability to collaborate professionally, credibly, and objectively across teams and with clients; able to build trusted relationships and deliver on commitments.

• Customer-service orientation and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing work environment while maintaining accuracy and composure under strict deadlines.

• Ability to manage multiple duties and priorities daily, work with physical and digital records, and maintain client confidentiality.

• Inclusive leadership, sound conflict-management judgment, and the ability to adapt to varied workstyles and in-person, hybrid, or remote working environments.

Core Technical Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of technical analyses performed by more junior team members, providing clear direction, review, and approval.

• Interpret, audit, and verify Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and methods of compliance.

• Determine the applicability of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins.

• Verify time since new and time used on life-limited parts and hard-time components installed on engines, landing gear, and airframes.

• Perform and review back-to-birth traceability for life-limited components installed on airframes, engines, and landing gear.

• Verify aircraft documentation for proper sign-off, parts certificates, nondestructive testing (NDT) records, and vendor approvals.

• Research and resolve aircraft-records issues, escalating to the appropriate work groups when necessary.

• Analyze and review minor and major repair records to verify installation and compliance.

• Evaluate Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for installation and compliance.

• Leverage deep technical knowledge and relevant computer models and databases to develop practical solutions for clients.

• Use client-based maintenance tracking systems, including Wizard, Merlin, Trax, Maintenix, and AMOS, for research, updates, and data input as required.

• Remain directly involved in complex, high-risk, or judgment-intensive work while delegating routine production appropriately and ensuring consistent adherence to agreed processes.

• Candidates performing Aircraft Technical Representative duties must have prior aircraft maintenance experience and a quality background.

Education & Credentials

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License preferred but not required unless acting as Technical Representative.
