About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a Phase 1 clinical research team in Chandler, Arizona. This is a specialized opportunity for an APP who understands clinical research and wants to play a meaningful role in bringing emerging therapies to patients.

You will work directly with both standard-of-care and clinical research patients, conducting evaluations and consultations, reviewing pretreatment requirements, performing safety medical reviews, and managing patients throughout their participation in clinical trials. You will also serve in a Sub-Investigator capacity, requiring a strong understanding of study protocols, patient safety, research documentation, and regulatory expectations.

The role is highly collaborative. You will work alongside physicians, clinical research coordinators, research recruiters, and other research professionals to execute study visits, maintain accurate source documentation, review informed consent documentation, and ensure protocols are followed appropriately.

This is also a role with meaningful patient ownership. You will help manage patients from their initial visit through study completion and closeout while contributing to innovative care for individuals affected by liver and gastrointestinal disease.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Four-day workweek with Monday–Thursday 4/10s
  • Direct involvement in Phase 1 clinical trials
  • Serve as a Sub-Investigator and play an active role in research execution
  • Manage patients throughout the clinical trial lifecycle
  • Work with complex GI, hepatology, and liver disease patient populations
  • Combine advanced clinical practice with research, patient safety, and emerging therapies

What We’re Looking For

  • NP or PA with previous clinical research experience
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial protocols and research processes
  • Comfortable managing clinically complex patients with minimal assistance
  • Strong clinical judgment and independent decision-making ability
  • Detail-oriented approach to research documentation and protocol compliance
  • Effective leader and collaborator who can work across clinical and research teams

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose conditions and make appropriate treatment decisions within established scope of practice.
  • Educate patients regarding therapeutic options available through applicable liver clinical trials.
  • Counsel patients and families and coordinate appropriate direct-care interventions with physicians.
  • Serve as a primary clinical point of contact and assume responsibility for managing assigned patients.
  • Collaborate with clinical research coordinators, recruiters, physicians, and other research personnel to complete study visits.
  • Review study documentation, clinical charting, source documentation, and informed consent records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned protocols and communicate study requirements to research team members.
  • Perform applicable in-clinic procedures, including FibroScan, when appropriately trained and qualified.
