Seven West Media has an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious journalist to step into the pivotal role of Northern Editor in Broome.

In this dynamic leadership position, you will take the reins of four of the region’s most respected mastheads including the Broome Advertiser and North West Telegraph - leading coverage that informs communities, sparks conversation, and helps shape the narrative of Western Australia’s North West.

This is a career-defining opportunity to fast-track your progression into senior editorial leadership. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience running newsrooms, mentoring journalists, setting the news agenda, and delivering impactful, community-driven journalism that truly makes a difference - all in one of the most magical locations.

About the role:

• Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online.

• Developing positive relationships with key people and organisations.

• Breaking news stories and creating engaging content.

• Steering the editorial direction of the Northern papers.

• Interviewing and photographing subjects confidently and professionally. 

• Leading a small team of reporters.

• Working cohesively as part of our senior regional leadership team.

• Representing the Company in a professional and courteous manner.

About you:

• The ability to work under high pressure.

• At least two years' experience as a reporter. 

• Strong writing and communication skills. 

• An eye for detail, a head for news and a hunger for the truth. 

• A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines. 

• A valid driver’s license. 

• A passion for local news.
