Operational Risk manages risks arising from the Bank's business activities within the risk appetite established by the Board. The function is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating operational risks, while fostering a strong risk culture and awareness across all levels of the organisation. The team plays a key role in enhancing the Bank's control environment and mitigating risks associated with processes, systems, technology, external events, and people.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operational Risk & Control Specialist to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of operational risk management activities and will work closely with stakeholders across business and support functions to strengthen risk governance and control effectiveness.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Risk Framework

• Review, assess, and manage Operational Risk Incidents, ensuring appropriate root cause analysis, action plans, and timely resolution.
• Perform Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) to identify, evaluate, and monitor key operational risks and controls.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of key controls, identify control gaps and emerging risks, and support remediation efforts where required.

Risk Reporting

• Develop and maintain operational risk metrics, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and management information reporting.
• Prepare risk reports and presentations for senior management, risk committees, and governance forums.
• Support the review and enhancement of operational risk policies, procedures, frameworks, and standards to ensure continued effectiveness and regulatory compliance.

Risk Advisory & Awareness

• Partner with business and support units to review processes, identify control improvement opportunities, and support implementation of remediation actions and control enhancements.
• Provide risk advisory support for business initiatives, system enhancements, and strategic projects to ensure appropriate risk considerations are incorporated.
• Provide independent review and constructive challenge to ensure operational risks are appropriately identified, assessed, managed, and escalated where necessary.
• Promote a strong risk and control culture through risk awareness programmes, training, stakeholder engagement, guidance, and constructive challenges where necessary.

Investigation

• Investigate client complaints, fraud cases, operational incidents, and other risk events, including conducting root cause analysis and recommending appropriate remediation measures.
• Conduct ad hoc reviews, thematic assessments, and investigations as required.

Regulatory Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold high standards of ethics, integrity, and compliance by demonstrating appropriate conduct and ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and risk management standards.
• Support regulatory, supervisory, and governance requirements within the scope of the Bank's Operational Risk Management Framework.

Stakeholder Management

• Build effective partnerships across business and support functions to drive sound risk management practices, control enhancements, and continuous improvement.
• Act as a trusted risk partner by providing guidance, challenge, and oversight on operational risk matters.
• Support supervisory reviews, regulatory inspections, and internal and external audits.

Professional and Technical

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Minimum 6-8 years of experience in Private Banking, Operational Risk, Audit, Compliance, or related functions.
• Strong understanding of Private Banking products, processes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Good knowledge of operational risk management practices, including incident management, RCSA, control testing, issue management, and KRI monitoring.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience in data analytics/visualisation tools, or other automation tools for process improvement is advantageous.
