Über diese Network Engineer EMEA Stelle bei Skechers

Skechers · Vor Ort · Milmort, Belgium
As part of the continued development of its operations across Europe, Skechers is welcoming a Network Engineer EMEA into its Infrastructure IT team. You will be joining a close-knit team, working in close collaboration with a large US-based network team, in a demanding and fast-evolving technology environment, including a large-scale network infrastructure deployment project to lead from day one.

Your Mission

The Network Engineer EMEA is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of secure and resilient network services across EMEA distribution centers, offices, showrooms, and data-center or cloud-connected environments. The role combines hands-on engineering with project delivery, operational ownership, documentation, vendor coordination, and partnership with global IT and Information Security teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

Network architecture and engineering

  • Design, deploy, and optimize enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, Internet, VPN, and data-center connectivity for new and existing EMEA sites.
  • Develop scalable reference designs, technical standards, configurations, and implementation patterns aligned with global architecture and business requirements.
  • Engineer routing, switching, segmentation, high availability, quality of service, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and resilient Internet connectivity.
  • Validate capacity, coverage, redundancy, performance, and supportability before production handover.

Operations, reliability, and lifecycle management

  • Own day-to-day health and performance of network services, including proactive monitoring, incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Plan and execute firmware, software, configuration, hardware refresh, and end-of-life activities using approved change-management processes.
  • Maintain backups, inventories, diagrams, circuit details, support contracts, operational procedures, and recovery information.
  • Participate in the after-hours support and escalation rotation for critical network incidents and planned changes.

Project delivery and site implementation

  • Provide network workstreams for new buildings, expansions, relocations, office or showroom deployments, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Create technical requirements and bills of materials; review proposals, quotations, implementation plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate carriers, cabling partners, managed service providers, smart-hands teams, construction stakeholders, and local IT support.
  • Perform or oversee site surveys, rack and stack, structured-cabling validation, wireless readiness, testing, cutover, stabilization, and formal handover.

Security, governance, and collaboration

  • Implement approved network security architecture and controls, including segmentation, firewall policy changes, secure remote access, and configuration hardening, in coordination with the dedicated Information Security function.
  • Apply least-privilege access, peer review, change control, and documented rollback plans to network changes.
  • Partner with global infrastructure, cloud, systems, service desk, application, distribution-center support, and business teams to resolve dependencies and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Communicate risks, outages, technical constraints, options, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering or administration, ideally supporting multiple sites and business-critical operations.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production network changes, site deployments, migrations, upgrades, and complex incident resolution.
  • Current or recent certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Aruba, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft Azure, or equivalent are preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPv4, subnetting, VLANs, STP, LACP, OSPF, BGP fundamentals, NAT, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, QoS, VPN, and network troubleshooting methods.
  • Hands-on ability with enterprise routers, switches, wireless platforms, firewalls, and cloud-managed network platforms.
  • Ability to diagnose issues across physical, data-link, network, transport, wireless, security-policy, carrier, and application-dependency layers.
  • Understanding of network resilience, monitoring, capacity, configuration management, lifecycle management, and disaster-recovery principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid enterprise connectivity.
  • Ability to create accurate logical and physical diagrams, low-level designs, implementation plans, test plans, rollback plans, standards, and support procedures.
  • Basic scripting or API-based automation for validation, reporting, or repetitive operational tasks is an advantage, but is not the primary focus of the role.
  • Professional working proficiency in English and French is required.  Knowledge of additional EMEA languages is an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Takes end-to-end ownership and follows issues, changes, and project actions through to a documented and supportable conclusion.
  • Works methodically, validates assumptions, tests changes, and escalates risks early rather than relying on trial and error in production.
  • Balances standardization with practical business needs and explains technical constraints without assigning blame.
  • Collaborates effectively across regions, time zones, cultures, and technical disciplines while remaining clear about responsibilities and decision points.
  • Prioritizes service stability and operational readiness, especially in distribution-center and other business-critical environments.
  • Manages multiple workstreams with clear priorities, status updates, deadlines, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
  • Continuously develops technical knowledge and proposes improvements supported by evidence, operational value, and lifecycle considerations.

You bring your skills to Skechers, and in return, we offer you:

  • A key technical role at the heart of a modern, multi-site enterprise network environment, constantly evolving and covering the entire EMEA region.
