The Opportunity:

CACI is looking for an Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) Parts Engineer to join the Avionic Systems Division EEE Parts Engineering team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.  Strong candidates will have academic backgrounds in a related field with significant professional experience in EEE parts, electrical and power systems from Military programs, the Energy or Automotive industries, or from Aerospace systems.

This experienced position will provide Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts expertise to the NASA programs including the International Space Station (ISS), Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) (next generation Spacesuit), Artemis (Orion vehicle), and Moon Base.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding academic performance, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner. The individual must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next generation of human-rated space vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate directly with cross-functional teams and product managers to integrate EEE parts selection considerations, during early product development.
  • Participate in design reviews, customer acceptance reviews, test planning, and other program reviews; develop milestone review documentation, as needed.
  • Support project teams in EEE related activities including review and generation of project related documents such as procurement specifications and Source Control Drawings (SCDs).
  • Review electrical test data to verify part/lot acceptability.
  • Contribute to component selection, screening, qualification, derating, failure analysis, and obsolescence reviews for spaceflight applications.
  • Draft and formalize project-specific qualification plans, screening requirements, and Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR) for EEE components.
  • Evaluate the manufacturers, materials, construction, usage (environment & electrical de-rating), and overall reliability of the selected parts and reporting to the EEE parts control board (PCB).
  • Review design-phase bills of materials (BoMs) for component reliability while providing direct technical expertise to Material Review Boards (MRBs).
  • Evaluate proposed EEE Parts lists with respect to the project’s specific hardware criticality and environments. Recommend replacement EEE parts.
  • Support EEE parts reliability issues and risk mitigation towards closure.
  • Assist in preparation, analysis and distribution of NASA Advisories and Government Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) Alerts.
  • Develop part specifications and test procedures for space level parts.
  • Provide technical assistance to contracted tests labs and part manufacturers.
  • Review of military and industry EEE parts specifications, standards and studies for application to NASA programs.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.



Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field from an accredited engineering school with 7-10 years of directly applicable EEE parts engineering experience.

Ideal candidates will possess experience in many of the specific areas below:

  • Knowledge of component failure modes, component reliability, and components specifications and standards.
  • Understanding of passive components, microcircuit, hybrid, semiconductor and discrete device fabrication.
  • Experience with accelerated reliability testing, reliability theory, and component failure analysis
  • Knowledge of the EEE parts used in high reliability military/DoD or space hardware and the associated US military test specifications and standards.
  • Experience with the development of EEE parts management plans, Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA), and parts failure analysis desired.
  • Strong background in Electronic Engineering including knowledge of EEE parts, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product development, pre-production activity, and product life cycle.
  • Sourcing background in electronics industry and supply chain experience with electrical technologies and part manufacturers.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision. 
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.  
  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.


Desired:

  • M.S. or Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of NASA or aerospace EEE parts standards
  • Experience greater than the minimum of 7-10 years.

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$76,000 - 155,700 USD
