Position Title: MTC Production Technician II

Job Summary:

The MTC Production Technician II supports the manufacturing operations of the Motor Technology Center by performing defined and controlled production processes involved in the fabrication of precision magnetic stacks. This role executes annealing, bonding, and stacking operations by following established procedures, work instructions, and process recipes while operating standard production equipment and control panels under routine or general supervision.

The Technician II is responsible for producing magnetic stacks that meet documented dimensional and magnetic specifications, escalating issues, abnormalities, or process deviations to senior technicians or engineering personnel as required. This position emphasizes technical skill development, consistency, safety, and adherence to quality standards while contributing to the reliable production of high-value products.

Through hands-on experience, the Technician II develops technical proficiency, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and contributes to the team's commitment to quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction within the Motor Technology Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform annealing, bonding, and stacking operations for precision magnetic laminations following established procedures and work instructions.

  • Operate standard production equipment, control panels, and automated systems to execute defined recipes and manufacturing processes.

  • Produce magnetic stacks that meet dimensional, magnetic, and quality specifications.

  • Monitor production activities and promptly report issues, abnormalities, or process deviations to senior technicians, engineering, or supervision.

  • Utilize measurement and inspection equipment, including optical comparators, basic CMM functions, and magnetic testing equipment, to verify product compliance.

  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing process issues and support process optimization activities under the guidance of engineering, quality personnel, and senior technicians.

  • Apply established manufacturing techniques to accommodate material variations while maintaining product quality and process consistency.

  • Support process development initiatives through hands-on production activities, data collection, and operational feedback.

  • Complete required production records, documentation, and traceability requirements accurately and timely.

  • Follow all safety requirements, quality standards, and departmental procedures.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement approved process changes.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members to support daily production goals and operational objectives.

  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree in a technology-related field preferred.

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of related technical or manufacturing experience required.

  • Working knowledge of annealing, bonding, and stacking processes for magnetic laminations.

  • Understanding of key process variables and their impact on product quality.

  • Experience operating standard manufacturing equipment, control systems, and automated production processes.

  • Knowledge of metallurgical and laboratory equipment as applied to manufacturing operations.

  • Familiarity with measurement and inspection equipment including optical comparators, CMM equipment, and magnetic testing equipment.

  • Understanding of manufacturing process controls, quality requirements, and production documentation.

  • Working knowledge of applicable scientific principles, manufacturing methods, and production standards.

  • Executes routine production activities in compliance with documented procedures and specifications.

  • Understands the impact of material differences on manufacturing processes and product performance.

  • Assists with troubleshooting and root-cause identification of manufacturing issues.

  • Supports process improvement and process development initiatives through production execution and feedback.

  • Ensures product quality through adherence to established operational and inspection requirements.

  • Organizes and prioritizes assigned production tasks to meet daily and weekly production requirements.

  • Works within established schedules and production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrates awareness of design, prototyping, and production requirements when completing assignments.

  • Maintains accurate production records to support compliance, traceability, and quality requirements.

  • Supports continuous improvement projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to complete production documentation accurately.
