Instrumentation Technologist I

Job Summary:

The Lane Neuroimaging Lab is looking for a full-time MRI technologist to help with important brain research.  The Lane Lab is part of the Health Emotions Research Institute at the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry, located in Research Park.  The MRI technologist position works in a team environment to complete research scanning using a 3.0T GE MRI, assists with the scheduling of research scans, helps conduct MRI safety and training sessions, and other tasks that support the HERI research program. 

This position is hybrid-remote, work is on-site on days when scans are scheduled and can be remote on days when scans are not. 

The work hours are Monday through Friday from 12:30 pm.to 9:00 pm, with occasional one Saturday availability per month from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Additional Information:

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Answers questions and provides technical information regarding instrumentation to staff, researchers, clients, and students
  • Investigates new research processes and technology solutions in collaboration with research/clinical staff, students, and clients
  • Assist and participate in MRI Safety Document Training and MRI Emergency Training

  • Provides technical expertise to staff, researchers, clients, and students in the installation and use of equipment and instruments, exercising discretion and independent judgment to meet unit goals
  • Designs, plans, and performs preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal and safe operation

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $56,112 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

Radiology Technologist Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

MRI Experience is preferable.
