Role Overview 

The Investment Counsellor is a senior client-facing role responsible for delivering integrated, cross-product investment solutions to a portfolio of high net worth (HNW) and ultra high net worth (UHNW) clients. The individual will act as the primary investment advisor, translating complex macro and market views into actionable, personalized portfolio recommendations across equities, fixed income, alternatives, structured products, and discretionary mandates. Chinese language fluency is essential. Given the sophistication of the client base, this role is targeted at the Vice President or Executive Director level, with the expectation of leading high-impact investment discussions with key decision-makers, including CIOs, investment committees, family office principals, and corporate founders. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Investment Advisory: Provide bespoke, cross-asset investment advice to UHNW clients, covering equities, fixed income, structured products, FX, commodities, alternatives, and funds. 
• Market Intelligence: Provide timely macro and market research — including global macroeconomic trends, geopolitical developments, regional equity strategy, central bank communications, and sector-level views — translating them into clear, client-ready investment narratives in both Mandarin and English.
• Cross-Product Solutions: Identify and present investment opportunities across the full product shelf, including discretionary portfolio management, thematic equity baskets, capital-protected structures and hedge funds. 
• Client Relationship Management: Build and deepen trusted advisory relationships with clients, conducting regular portfolio reviews, investment updates, and market briefings in Mandarin and English. 
• Collaboration: Work closely with investment representatives (IRs), product specialists, research teams, and portfolio managers to deliver seamless, integrated solutions. Coordinate with internal strategy teams to incorporate house views into client portfolios. 
• Portfolio Construction: Assist clients in constructing and rebalancing portfolios aligned with their risk appetite, liquidity needs and investment objectives. 
• Compliance and Suitability: Ensure all investment recommendations meet regulatory suitability requirements and internal risk management standards. Maintain full documentation of client interactions and investment rationale. 
• Regular business travel across Asia to deepen relationships with UHNW clients, family offices, and key internal stakeholders, while supporting strategic business growth initiatives. 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in private banking, wealth management, or investment advisory, with a focus on HNW/UHNW clients (minimum 10+ years for Executive Director).
• Deep cross-product knowledge spanning equities, fixed income, structured products, alternatives, and discretionary mandates. 
• Native or near-native Mandarin fluency (spoken and written); strong English proficiency required. 
• Demonstrated ability to articulate complex investment themes, including macro strategy, equity sector views, and yield dynamics, clearly and concisely to non-specialist clients. 
• CACS Paper 1 & 2 and MAS Appointed Representative; CFA Charterholders are a definite plus.
• Demonstrates AI and digital fluency, leveraging AI tools for market research, portfolio analytics, and client engagement to sharpen insights and advisory efficiency.
• Collaboration: Team player who can coordinate across product, research, compliance, and relationship management functions.
