Department: Merchandise, Demand, and Inventory Planning

Capability Area: Global Merchandise Planning

Location: North Vancouver

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As a Merchandise Planner at Arc’teryx, you will take full ownership of the financial plans for your assigned category, driving the numbers that connect product strategy to business performance. You will manage Open-to-Buy (OTB), reconcile demand plans, and partner closely with Global Merchandising to build assortment strategies that balance growth with inventory discipline. You will develop a deep understanding of your category, track performance with precision, and bring recommendations that influence how the business buys and builds.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

Global Merchandise Planning owns the Merchandise Financial Plan across all channels and regions, setting sales, margin, and inventory targets, building global line architecture, and reconciling the Merchandise Financial Plan against Finance plans. The team defines global Open-to-Buy standards and inventory management policies, drives category hind sighting and business reviews, and partners with Finance and regional planning teams to maintain accountability to committed plans and drives consistency in merchandise planning processes across regions.

If you were in the Merchandise Planner role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Owning seasonal and annual merchandise financial plans for your assigned category, including sales, margin, and inventory, and tracking performance to targets
  • Managing Global OTB across mid-term and long-term horizons, reconciling bottom-up demand plans to merchandise financial plans
  • Partnering with Global Merchandising to develop assortment strategies that balance category growth with inventory productivity
  • Analyzing sell-through, margin, and inventory performance and bringing clear, actionable recommendations to your manager and cross-functional partners
  • Tracking assortment and line plan architecture targets and identifying opportunities within your category
  • Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Developing a stronger category point of view that drives more proactive recommendations on assortment, inventory positioning, and OTB
  • Contributing to hindsight and postmortem analysis that sharpens how the team tracks and forecasts category performance season over season
  • Are you our next Merchandise Planner?

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field
  • You have 3-5+ years of experience in Merchandise Planning or Demand Planning, preferably in a global consumer goods or apparel environment
  • You have experience in category forecasting, OTB and inventory planning, and margin and profitability analysis, with experience with global and regional nuances
  • You have experience managing assortment and line plan architecture targets and understand how product structure connects to financial outcomes
  • You bring strong retail math fluency and solid data analytics capability, including the ability to conduct postmortem analysis and translate findings into forward-looking recommendations
  • You are a strong collaborator and build productive partnerships with cross-functional teams
  • You communicate your analysis and recommendations with clarity
  • You are commercially minded, identify opportunities within your category, and can drive strategic plans for your area through data-led performance tracking
