Summary:
The Golden Apple Foundation is seeking Independent Contractors to provide early-career mentoring services to newly licensed preK-12 teachers in New Mexico. Teaching Scholars in our Golden Apple Scholars program are supported through mentoring and professional development during their initial years of teaching by working with an experienced team of Mentors.
Scope-of-Work:
- Provide guidance to mentees to prepare effective onboarding plans for entering the classroom and the community of PreK-12 students whom they will serve
- Measure the success of the mentees individually and collectively to ensure that Prek-12 student learning is maximized
- Observe early career teachers’ instructional practice in the classroom and review measurements of student learning
- Coach mentees to improve effectiveness and support all students in achieving their learning goals
- Demonstrate professional maturity and respect confidentiality of the mentor/mentee relationship
- Conduct a minimum of three in-person classroom observations per mentee throughout the academic year
- Submit timely documentation, including calendars, observation forms, professional notes, and invoices
- Maintain regular communication with program leadership
- Attend mentoring virtual meetings with Program leadership
- Consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- Five or more years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated achievement of above-average student outcomes
- Understanding and implementation of successful adult learning theory
- Deliver effective coaching that builds teacher capacity
- Demonstrate strong relationship-building skills
- Adept at measuring performance in the classroom
- Experienced with effective teaching practices and pedagogy
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional oral and written communication
- Positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Proficient in basic technology tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other web-based platforms
This is an independent contractor role which is not benefits-eligible.
Remuneration Range: The sum of $300 as a daily rate of pay (the “Daily Rate of Pay”) for a minimum of six (6) hours of work. $150 is half the Daily Rate of Pay, for a minimum of three (3) hours of work.
