Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices in office, virtual, and field settings.
• Conducts biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic screenings, and risk evaluations to guide treatment planning.
• Develops, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to client needs.
• Maintains timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of services in accordance with HIPAA and professional standards.
• Develops and facilitate community-based mental health education sessions focused on prevention, early intervention, and stigma reduction.
• Represents the Mental Health Program at community events, including, but not limited to town halls, health fairs, and schools.
• Engages with community partners, faith-based organizations, and civic groups to promote awareness of mental health resources and services.
• Distributes educational materials and facilitate workshops on topics such as stress management, suicide prevention, youth behavioral health, and trauma-informed care.
• Provides immediate support and intervention for individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.
• Conducts risk assessments and safety planning for individuals presenting with suicidal ideation, acute distress, or other mental health emergencies.
• Coordinates with law enforcement, CIT, EMS, and community partners for appropriate crisis response and follow-up care.
• Serves as a liaison between the Mental Health Program and community stakeholders to enhance referral pathways and service utilization.
• Assists in the development and implementation of culturally competent strategies to reach underserved and high-risk populations.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across Fort Bend County HHS, including clinical/community health, social services, and emergency response units.
• Collects and reports service data to support quality improvement, grant compliance, and strategic planning efforts.
• Participates in program evaluation, needs assessments, and other initiatives to inform mental health policies and interventions.
• Participates in emergency response activities during local states of disaster, supporting the community’s psychological first aid, crisis response needs, and other tasks as assigned.

This is a 100% Grant funded position. Fort Bend County cannot guarantee any employment past the date of the funding cycle or if funding runs out prior to the end of the grant contract period. 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field; Licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Psychological Associate (LPA) in Texas.   
• Two (2) years of experience providing mental health services in community, public health, or clinical settings.
• Experience in both clinical treatment and public health/community engagement is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive service delivery.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to perform mental health assessments and interventions.
• Knowledge of public health principles, social determinants of health, and mental health promotion strategies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences, including clients, community members, professional partners, and elected officials.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field-based, office, and virtual settings.
• Proficiency in electronic health records and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or another language prevalent in Fort Bend County is preferred.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $36.13 - $45.16 hourly based on qualifications
