San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) envisions a future where health justice is achieved for all people living with or at risk for HIV. What is the position?  

SFAF is looking for a talented and compassionate full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical support at Strut, our sexual health clinic. In this position the Medical Assistant will ensure efficient operations and quality care to our patients. This position will support patients and clinicians through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, examination, and treatment. 
  

What are the main responsibilities? 

• Conduct patient intake, including collecting medical and sexual health history, recording patient vitals, providing patient education and counseling, assisting with exams, and performing lab tests as necessary. 

• Assist clinicians with the examination and treatment of patients. 

• Prepare exam and procedure rooms, assuring adequate stock of all necessary medical supplies; sterilize instruments; maintain standard inventory items, including both medical and patient educational supplies. 

• Performs lab tests as specified, including venipuncture/phlebotomy, and prepares specimens for transport to outside labs. Records complete and accurate results. 

• Timely and accurate data entry into the electronic health record. 

• Performs routine clerical and reception work as needed to support clinic activities including assisting clients, answering phones, maintaining records, entering chart data, and billing. 

Who are we looking for?  

• Minimum 1-2 years of work as a Medical Assistant required. 

• Experience with venipuncture/phlebotom highly regarded. 

• Experience working with vaccine administration, patient vital signs, room turn over, patient education, and communicating labs and medication to patients.  

• Certification by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) or equivalent (such as CMA, RMA, etc.).  

• Comfortable working with a diverse range of clients from various backgrounds, racial and ethnic identities, gender presentations, and sexualities.  

• Willing to become HIV Test Counseling (HTC) Certified within 6 months of starting. 

Where is the position located?  

This position is primarily located at 470 Castro st, San Francisco, however it may occasionally require traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings as required by the job. Role may include evening and weekend coverage.  

What we offer?  

Hourly Rate : $36 - $37 Per Hour

We offer combined PTO/Sick Time Off of 27+ days for the first two years of employment, 32+ days after two years of employment. For retirement we offer a 403(b) Plan and SFAF matches employee contributes (1 to 1) up to 3% of Salary.
