Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for administering patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise under the supervision of a Physician.

I am seeking approval to add a non-budgeted non-granted 0.05 PRN MA position.  Our intake team at Cool Springs Clinic operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position will are requesting will serve as a float within the PCC department to float within the PCC and cover staff that are out on leave or open positions.

 

The PRN Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for patient intake for all assigned patients and ensuring exam rooms are cleaned and prepared between visits to maintain efficient clinical flow. The MA assists with medication and nutrition orders, as well as stocking and maintaining clinic supplies. This role will also be cross-trained to support Patient Service Specialist (PSS) duties, including checking patients in and out of the clinic.

 

Without this MA position being replaced, it would significantly hinder our ability to provide adequate patient care, likely to result in delays, reduced patient satisfaction, and unfavorable patient experience scores.  Maintaining this position is essential to mitigate staff burnout, improve long-term employee retention, and ensure continued high-quality care for our patients.

The expectation for this position is to be able to assist at all Medicine PCC clinics (emphasis on Nephrology Shelbyville). Ideally, this position will be filled with someone who lives south of Nashville so can assist with Shelbyville needs (though they will be expected to go to all Medicine PCC clinics if needed).
