The MA, Media Studies program is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Ambassador. They serve as the point of contact between the Program Director, Admissions staff, and prospective and admitted students. They check a dedicated email to field questions about courses, viable lines of study and research, student life, etc. Questions about admission policies, procedures, and requirements should be referred to the Office of Admissions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to emails sent to the ambassador account for the program. It is expected that accounts will be checked a minimum of every other day.
Upon request, the ambassador will meet with prospective students, either in person by phone or virtually, at a mutually convenient time.
Responsible for arranging class visits for prospective students who are interested in them.
Attend Open House/Information Sessions, including admitted student events, to provide information from the student’s perspective to prospective students (typically once per month).
Attend monthly ambassador meetings with Admissions point of contact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current student in good standing at The New School.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in communications work.
Prior experience in news writing and/or digital publishing.
Design skills for print and digital media.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hr, 5 hrs a week
