We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer /Naval Architect to join our innovative and fast-growing company. The position requires creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to design and develop innovative ideas, resolve technical challenges and support equipment upgrades.

The Mechanical Engineer / Naval Architect is responsible for providing efficient solutions for the design & development of cable handling equipment - ranging from small components to large structures – used in the company’s offshore cable installation and protection projects. The role also includes performing engineering analyses using finite element methods (FEM) with specialized software, supporting continuous asset improvement, innovation, and the delivery of current and future project requirements.

The position involves research and development at concept level for future company endeavors, covering the full lifecycle from design and engineering through manufacturing, final commissioning, maintenance, and modification—working both as part of a project team and independently as required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed design and engineering work, including 3D modelling, as required.
  • Perform design validation and verification, including analyses and tests as needed (load analysis, stress analysis using hand calculations or finite element analysis, part & assembly tolerance analysis, and functional / environmental / static load assessments).
  • Assist in the design, development and evaluation of new and existing marine equipment.
  • Prepare Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and plans.
  • Create technical reports and documentation required for Company projects.
  • Assist in the evaluation and troubleshooting of vessels and deck equipment.
  • Study and determine forces and moments for use in strength assessments via finite element methods (FEM), supporting material selection, thickness, geometry and related construction decisions.
  • Perform studies for the installation of cable or marine equipment on vessels, including FEA analysis and structural reinforcement drawings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Naval Architecture, or a closely related field, together with advanced training in mechanical design (university, technical/trade school, or substantial equivalent on-the-job experience).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design and FEA analysis.
  • Experience in marine equipment, offshore, shipbuilding, heavy structural design or related industries is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk AutoCAD, and ANSYS Suite (or equivalent FEA software).
  • Solid understanding of core engineering concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and materials science.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Knowledge of Rhino is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of animation tools (3ds Max or similar) is considered an advantage.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in both Greek and English.
