About the role

The Sr. Production Planning Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources and timely delivery of products. The role works independently on complex planning tasks, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and contributes to process improvements that enhance production performance.
This job profile is intended for specialist professionals that apply advanced knowledge of a job area. Required to manage projects / processes independently with limited supervision. Typically coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals.

This job and its associated grade are specifically aligned with roles that have the following scope of responsibility: Large, Division / Extra Large organization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with demand forecasts.
Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure material availability.
Analyze constraints, capacity, and performance metrics to optimize production flow.
Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and bottlenecks.
Prepare planning reports, dashboards, and performance analyses.
Support implementation of new planning tools, systems, and process improvements.
Coach junior planners and contribute to best-practice development.

Skills & Qualifications
Typically a University degree (or equivalent work experience) and 5–7 years of relevant experience are minimally required.
Additional qualifications:

Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and planning tools.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage complex data and work independently.
Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
