Position Description:

1.     Develop prioritized New-Business projects with Covestro’s automotive products, innovation and services in responsible segment and responsible OEMs and relevant tiers in China

2.     Generate segment & OEM account plan and nurture high potential leads and opportunities in responsible segment and responsible OEMs and key tiers for EP-relevant automotive solutions in China market; secure OEM commitment to project

3.     Request outside-in demands to internal functions across the global community and processes to ensure successful project results based on in-depth understanding of responsible OEMs and mobility segment trends

4.     Build and manage opportunity funnels (Lead → Validation → Spec-in → SOP), remove blockers across validation, specifications, testing, and approvals

5.     For E&E pilot, maintain and strengthen relationships with existing OEM/ODM customers and mold factories, ensuring high customer satisfaction through regular engagement, technical support, and prompt resolution of customer needs.

6.     For E&E pilot, Identify and develop new OEM/ODM customers in the electrical and electronics industry across Northern China(E.g. Beijing/Tianjing/Shandong Area), focusing on converting prospects into long-term strategic partners through technical consultation and solution selling.

7.     Monitor E&E market trends, competitor activities, and customer requirements in the Northern region to identify business opportunities and provide strategic input for product development and market positioning.

8.     Facilitate sampling, test programs with RPPS, Group Quality, Operations, and Product Technology; ensure supply readiness for pilots and ramp‑up.

9.     Support to finalize sales results by persuading OEM for preferable material specifications, facilitating customer visits and discussions and providing information for sales pricing and contracts negotiation in line with EP MOB strategy

10.  Develop and maintain key contacts at responsible OEMs and major tiers; And coordinate all aspects of customer needs from relevant functions at OEMs and major tiers at all levels, with departments at Covestro, to provide excellent material products, innovation and services

11.  Promote and bridge at responsible OEMs/segment and relevant tiers for cross-BE automotive solutions

12.  Conduct segment exploration in China market with Covestro's global community for target application segment, e.g. information exchange, project execution, etc.

13.  Develop partner networks in the value chain (molders, toolmakers, compounders, system integrators) to scale reference applications; And connect and impact on external stakeholders or institutes for automotive standards, regulations or services etc.

14.  Generate insights of value-readiness matrix and roadmap in application segment by observing segment dynamics and conducting industry analysis; Articulate field information (customer request, material alternative, cost structures, specs, policies, etc） to marketing managers and Covestro management for strategic decision making; Initiate new product development request; Maintain account/segment knowledge management internally

15.  Sit in driving seat for project development, Key Account management and segment caretaker

16.  Achieve assigned tasks proactively, collaboratively and efficiently

17.  Follow the Covestro Corporate compliance and ethics program and guidelines in all aspects of customer relationship and business development.

18.  Frequent business travel is requested, around 60+% of work time

Work relations:

1.     All levels of external stakeholders in engineering, styling, material, quality, marketing, procurement, production etc. at OEM and key tiers

2.     All levels of internal functions of Sales, Marketing, R&D, Planning & Supply, Production, Color Centers, Sustainability etc. in Engineering Plastics

3.     Cross-BE contacts of mobility segment

4.     Selected E&E sales & Tech Development team in China

5.     Global mobility communities

6.     Corporate functions

7.     External institutes for automotive standards, regulations or services etc.

Qualification:

1.     Knowledge of automotive development process, especially for spec-in material solutions in auto applications; Working experiences in OEMs or tier1 in China is highly preferred

2.     Over 7 years working experience in automotive business development with track records of realizing ground-breaking projects into scalable sales

3.     Self-motivated, ownership, engaging people

4.     Excellent in communicating market needs, segment plan and promotion with digital tools to management

5.     Professional in articulating complicated customer/market situations and propose solution roadmap based on Covestro's differentiated competency.

6.     Capable of influencing stakeholders to drive value chain management; confident with strategic discussions at both customers and Covestro

7.     Capable of exploring fit-for-segment opportunities, leading projects, seeking solutions, predicting and negotiating customer expectations

8.     Preferred with E&E OEM/ODM project experiences

9.     Undergraduate or above educational degree in engineering or material science; Acquainted with polymer knowledge through a technical degree and/or experience in engineering plastics; MBA degree is also helpful;

10.  Native Chinese speaker and fluent in written and oral English
