Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent with LNG vessel experience to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of vessels under the company’s management. The role will be responsible for providing shore-based operational support to vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies, international maritime regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of assigned LNG vessels.
- Provide operational and technical support to Masters and vessel crews.
- Monitor vessel performance, safety, navigation and cargo operations.
- Ensure vessels comply with ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW and applicable Flag State, Class and Port State requirements.
- Conduct vessel inspections, audits and safety reviews, including preparation for SIRE/CDI and other vetting inspections where applicable.
- Monitor and follow up on PSC, Flag State, Class and internal inspection findings.
- Support LNG cargo operations, including loading, discharge and related shipboard activities.
- Review and monitor planned maintenance, defects, repairs and operational issues.
- Coordinate with Masters, Chief Engineers, technical teams, charterers, terminals, Class and other stakeholders.
- Participate in incident, accident and near-miss investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor vessel schedules, operational performance and compliance with company procedures.
- Assist with crew management, training and competency matters where required.
- Conduct regular vessel visits and inspections and provide follow-up reports.
- Support emergency response and provide shore-based assistance when required.
- Promote a strong safety, environmental and compliance culture across the assigned fleet.
- Carry out other duties related to vessel operations as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Valid STCW Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1 or Class 2 – Deck Officer / Master Mariner.
- Preferably Master Mariner / Chief Officer experience on LNG or gas carriers.
- Previous LNG vessel experience is required.
- Experience in a shore-based Marine Superintendent or similar operational role is preferred.
- Good knowledge of LNG cargo operations, vessel safety and marine regulations.
- Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW and industry vetting requirements.
- Experience with SIRE, CDI, PSC and Class inspections will be advantageous.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple operational matters effectively.
- Willingness to travel for vessel inspections and visits when required.
Preferred Experience
- LNG / LPG / gas carrier operational experience.
- Experience with LNG terminal operations and cargo handling.
- Previous experience working with international shipowners, ship managers or gas carrier operators.
- Experience handling audits, inspections, incident investigations and vessel performance matters.
