The Manager of Project Management, Transmission Line Projects, within Power Grid Operations is responsible for leading the successful execution of a portfolio of transmission line projects by aligning organizational resources, roles, processes, and project management practices. This position provides leadership to project management professionals and drives the consistent application of project management standards, tools, policies, and governance processes to achieve business objectives safely, efficiently, and effectively.

The Manager ensures successful project delivery through proactive management of scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, stakeholder engagement, and financial performance while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee development.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Power Grid Operations project management strategies, policies, standards, tools, and processes.
  • Lead a team of project management professionals responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of transmission line projects.
  • Equip organizational leaders and project stakeholders to effectively apply project management methodologies, governance processes, tools, and communications.
  • Ensure successful project delivery through effective management of scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead project gate reviews, portfolio reviews, and project status reviews to support timely decision-making and alignment with business objectives.
  • Drive consistency in project execution practices across the organization to improve performance, predictability, and delivery outcomes.

Financial Stewardship and Portfolio Management

  • Provide leadership and oversight for assigned capital project portfolios and annual spending plans.
  • Ensure prudent financial stewardship through accurate forecasting, budget management, financial reconciliation, and proactive identification of cost and schedule risks.
  • Lead monthly project reviews and budget projections to support organizational planning and financial performance objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including management of reimbursable projects and related financial reconciliation activities.

Stakeholder and Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for stakeholder relationships and conflict resolution with Grid Integration, Transmission, and other key business partners.
  • Build strong partnerships across departments to support successful project implementation and organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align project objectives, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and build commitment to continuous improvement efforts.

People Leadership and Development

  • Develop, coach, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of project management professionals.
  • Provide clear direction, performance feedback, professional development opportunities, and career growth support.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning through the effective use of project management tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives to strengthen organizational capability and sustainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience; or
  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of thirteen (13) years of related professional experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) or more years of related professional experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional project management certification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent credentials.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Certifications from the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), construction management organizations, or utility-specific technical programs.
  • Experience working in and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Experience leading complex transmission line projects and collaborating across multiple functional disciplines.
  • Knowledge of transmission line construction, including foundations, monopoles, lattice structures, access construction, erosion control, environmental mitigation, easement requirements, inspections, and construction safety practices.
  • Experience working with Engineering, Siting, Permitting, Contract Management, Legal, Real Estate, Operations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Supply Chain, Asset Protection, and Stakeholder Engagement organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and gain organizational support for change.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, organizational, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate corporate and departmental objectives into actionable business plans and project execution strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet commitments in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working with suppliers, vendors, contractors, and operational personnel to achieve common objectives.
  • Experience with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract management and execution.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience within a high-voltage transmission organization or comparable regulated utility.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of responsibility for managing project scope, schedule, cost, resources, and implementation activities for one or more capital projects.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, collaboration, and active listening skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work remotely, as necessary, to support project implementation activities.
  • Ability to maintain schedule commitments while ensuring safety remains the highest priority.

Hybrid Mobility Classification  Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations following the onboarding period. Employees must reside within a reasonable commuting distance, not exceeding 50 miles one way, of the assigned work location.
