You will provide feedback to internal contributors and subject matter experts to address revisions and rewrites as needed.

You will exhibit outstanding writing judgment and achieve the highest possible standards for all materials. You must have strong knowledge of Medicare guidelines and the company’s business, style and consistency standards. Interest in training colleagues to help them understand communications requirements and brand and quality standards is a plus.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are error-free, delivered on time and exceed required quality standards while verifying edits are implemented correctly, editorial review checks are run, facts are validated, and disclaimers and trademarks are confirmed.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple business partners to secure adherence to the company’s brand, voice, plain-language and marketing-compliance standards and contribute constructive feedback to internal writers and contributors through assorted stages in the review process.
  • Possess an understanding of the Medicare and health insurance industry, clients’ health benefits products, audiences and business objectives, and execute copyediting that aligns with the client’s vision.
  • Serve as a strategic and trusted partner on member-experience communications initiatives and help colleagues understand communication updates and requirements.
  • Produce and be accountable for final development of identified simplification assets, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail and achievement of writing objectives.
  • Demonstrate interest in facilitating and leading colleague training sessions in addition to primary role responsibilities.
  • Learn the Workfront platform and work within its framework to move pieces through workflow to legal and compliance.
  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational efficiencies and improvements.
  • Take ownership of work, bring a solutions-based attitude, and build positive, productive relationships across teams while meeting deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of copywriting or copyediting experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of health benefits insurance marketing and communication expertise.
  • Both Commercial and Medicare marketing communications experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent voice and audience focus in writing and boil verbose content down to the essence of the main message using plain-language skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt copy style to various audiences, purposes or media.
  • Ability to accurately review complex materials, including graphics, text, multimedia, websites and charts, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others, complete work and lead collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for fine detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and with diverse team members.
  • Excellent project-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritize tasks according to client needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams and other Office applications.
  • Experience working within Workfront is a plus.
  • Experience using, or willingness to learn, AI tools such as Writer, ChatGPT or Copilot to supplement review, proofreading or copy enhancement.
  • Understanding of writing applications in traditional and emerging channels.
  • Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements, including disclaimers, surrounding health care and health insurance copy.
  • Dedication to ethical and compliance standards and timely completion of assigned projects.
