About This Job
The Manager, Loan Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation activities related to the Bank's loan portfolio. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of loan accounting records, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and timely financial reporting. The Manager leads a team of accounting professionals, partners closely with Lending, Credit, Finance, Treasury, and Operations teams, and supports internal and external audits.Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day accounting functions for the Bank's loan portfolio, including commercial, consumer, residential, and specialty lending products
Oversee loan accounting processes, ensuring accurate recording of loan originations, payoffs, purchases, participations, nonaccrual loans, charge-offs, recoveries, and fee amortization
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities related to loan accounting
Monitor loan accounting controls and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Partner with Credit and Finance teams to support the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) process and related reporting requirements
Prepare and review financial schedules, regulatory reporting data, and disclosures related to the loan portfolio
Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and SOX controls where applicable
Coordinate and support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations
Research and document accounting treatment for new lending products, transactions, and regulatory changes
Develop, maintain, and enhance loan accounting policies, procedures, and controls
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Partner with technology and operations teams to support system implementations, upgrades, and process automation initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA preferred
7+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or loan accounting experience, preferably within a bank or financial institution
3+ years of management or leadership experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP, loan accounting principles, and financial institution regulatory reporting requirements
Experience with commercial, consumer, residential, and specialty lending products
Experience supporting the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) process and accounting for credit losses
Knowledge of Call Report reporting requirements and banking regulations
Demonstrated ability to manage complex reconciliations, identify process improvements, and implement effective internal controls
Experience supporting accounting system implementations, automation initiatives, or large-scale process improvements
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Proficiency with accounting systems, general ledger platforms, and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions
