We are looking for an experienced assurance professional to join our Risk team as Manager - External Reporting Assurance on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Auckland.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in providing assurance over BNZ’s financial and regulatory reporting. You will work closely with Finance and senior stakeholders across BNZ to assess risks and controls, review reporting processes, and help strengthen risk management practices.
You will bring an objective and independent perspective, providing valuable challenge, oversight, guidance, and advice to support the accuracy and integrity of BNZ’s external reporting obligations.
What are 5 day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
Lead assurance reviews over financial and regulatory reporting processes.
Assess risks and controls and evaluate the accuracy, completeness and appropriateness of external reporting.
Partner with Finance teams to strengthen risk management practices across risk, control, issue and event management activities.
Support oversight of change initiatives and risk reporting.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across Finance and the wider Bank, providing practical advice and guidance.

You will join a team focused on supporting BNZ Finance to manage risks and controls, get the numbers right, and keep BNZ safe. This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders across the Bank and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on BNZ’s financial and regulatory reporting environment.

What skills and experience are required?
5+ years’ experience in external audit, internal audit, or assurance.
A sound understanding of controls and risk, and how they apply to business environments and reporting requirements.
Experience communicating findings and influencing senior management.
Chartered Accountant qualification, such as CA ANZ, CPA, or equivalent.
Experience in risk management within the financial services sector.
