We are looking to add a Manager of Configuration Management to our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about developing leading-edge electronics for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems, we would like to hear from you.
In this position, you will lead a team responsible for maintaining configuration integrity, traceability, and controlled product definition across aerospace products and programs. This role establishes team priorities, manages resources and technical execution, develops team capabilities, and oversees configuration identification, baseline control, engineering changes, status accounting, and configuration audits. The Manager evaluates configuration status, change impacts, product records, and technical risks to ensure hardware, software, and engineering data remain accurate, controlled, and aligned throughout the product lifecycle.
This position requires an experienced configuration management leader with expertise in aerospace product configuration, engineering change control, product lifecycle management, and configuration assurance. The Manager partners cross-functionally with quality, systems, electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, supply chain, integration and test, and program management to resolve complex configuration issues and maintain alignment among engineering definition, released data, as-built products, and customer requirements.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage configuration management personnel responsible for configuration identification, baseline control, engineering changes, status accounting, and configuration verification.
Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and manage execution to achieve configuration, quality, schedule, and program objectives.
Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, performance management, technical guidance, and professional development.
Oversee establishment and maintenance of functional, allocated, and product configuration baselines throughout development, qualification, production, and delivery.
Manage configuration identification and control of engineering drawings, specifications, software versions, bills of materials (BOMs), product structures, and other configuration items.
Monitor configuration status, revision history, product traceability, and baseline integrity to identify and resolve discrepancies affecting product definition.
Manage engineering change control, including change requests, impact assessments, approvals, implementation status, and configuration/change control board (CCB) activities.
Evaluate engineering changes, deviations, waivers, and configuration discrepancies for impacts to requirements, interfaces, verification, manufacturing, and released product definition.
Coordinate functional and physical configuration audits, configuration verification, and reconciliation of as-designed, as-built, and delivered product configurations.
Administer configuration management plans, procedures, change workflows, status accounting practices, and product release controls in accordance with program and quality requirements.
Evaluate configuration metrics, change cycle times, audit findings, data discrepancies, and recurring issues to identify opportunities for improved control and execution.
Implement improvements to configuration workflows, system (PLM, ERP, MES, etc.) practices, traceability, change control, and product data processes that strengthen configuration integrity and lifecycle assurance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, configuration management, quality, information systems, or a related technical field with 7–9 years of related experience, master's degree in a related field with 5–7 years of related experience in configuration management, engineering change control, product lifecycle management, product data management, quality, or a related technical discipline.
1–3 years of leadership or management experience.
Advanced knowledge of configuration management principles, configuration identification, baseline management, status accounting, and configuration verification.
Proficiency with engineering change control, configuration/change control boards (CCBs), change impact assessment, deviations, waivers, and product release processes.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), product structures, software configurations, and configuration-controlled technical data.
Strong understanding of configuration audits, product traceability, requirements and interface dependencies, PLM/ERP/MES, and aerospace product lifecycle practices.
Experience managing functional, allocated, and product baselines and maintaining alignment among as-designed, as-built, and delivered configurations.
Strong technical judgment in evaluating configuration impacts, engineering changes, baseline discrepancies, product data integrity, technical risks, and program priorities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Data Management (PDM), and configuration management software, such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or equivalent platforms.
Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Bill of Materials (BOM) management, and product configuration tools, such as SAP, Epicor, FactoryLogix, or equivalent platforms.
Experience with requirements management and traceability tools, such as IBM DOORS, Jama Connect, or equivalent applications.
