[What the role is]

The mission of SFA is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore.

The Strategic and Corporate Planning Division drives SFA’s enterprise strategy development and cascade these strategies across SFA, and ensure optimal resourcing, effective execution and drives organisation development .

The Strategic Planning Department reviews and develops enterprise-wide strategies through research, analysis and consultations with relevant stakeholders, and hones strategy development capabilities across SFA by sharing best practices and facilitating training programmes.

The job holder will play a key role in reviewing, developing and advancing strategies across the food supply ecosystem. This includes shaping strategic positions, assessing risks and opportunities and formulating key interventions to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore.

[What you will be working on]

• Develop and review strategies by (i) drawing from best practices across business, public policy, scientific and other relevant domains (ii) anticipating domestic and international developments relevant to food security, including but not limited to industry, science and technology and societal trends, as well as (iii) assessing and balancing trade-offs.
• Recommend strategic options and -, approaches to ensure a supply of safe food to senior management and Ministry stakeholders (e.g. Minister, Cabinet) to support decision making and organisational outcomes.
• Facilitate training and consultancy programmes,and sharing best practices to strengthen strategy development capabilities across SFA.
• Oversee legislative amendments / enactments on food security, balancing the needs and priorities of the various stakeholders.
• Establish strategic relationships with key stakeholders to obtain buy-in for SFA’s strategies as well as create new opportunities for collaboration.

[What we are looking for]

• Relevant work experience in strategic planning and development in the government sector preferred.
• Self-motivated, and possess strong conceptual, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to engage and establish rapport with stakeholders, senior management and contributors at all levels of the organisation.
• Demonstrate values of proactivity, empathy, teamwork and excellence.
• Relevant qualifications, certifications and/or skills in science (e.g. scientific basis of risk assessments), economics (e.g. incentive structures and behavioural insights) and finance/statistics (e.g. commercial viability and cost-benefit analysis) preferred.
• Meticulous, resourceful and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
