You will also manage and develop members of the accounting team. You will report to the Assistant Controller and help shorten the monthly close process and reduce manual work through automation.
What You'll Do

- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar, meet close deadlines, and drive reductions in close cycle time.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, including work prepared by the senior accountant, so that every account is reconciled and supported on time.
- Perform financial, variance, and flux analysis, and develop performance metrics that support decision-making and operational efficiency.
Team and Accounts Payable
- Manage the accounts payable function and AP staff, including priorities, workload, coverage, and performance, and own the procure-to-pay process from invoice intake through payment.
- Review and approve payment batches before release, and review the annual 1099 filing.
- Mentor accounting staff through coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
Tax, Audit, and International
- Coordinate sales and use tax filings, amendments, and compliance activities, including nexus reviews, registration in new jurisdictions, and administration of the Company’s sales and use tax software (Avalara).
- Manage registered agents for annual state filings.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for the annual financial statement audit and foreign statutory audits.
- Prepare supporting schedules for federal and state tax compliance and the annual tax provision.
- Support international accounting, including VAT and GST filings, review of monthly reporting packages, intercompany reconciliations, and STAT-to-GAAP reconciliations.
Controls and Process Improvement
- Lead projects and system implementations that shorten the close, reduce manual work, automate processes, and strengthen internal controls.
- Produce ad hoc reports, reconciliations, and analyses for Finance and business partners as requests arise.
- Build strong working relationships with teams across the company.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Hands-on experience managing accounts payable operations.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, the month-end close, and internal controls.
- Proficiency with accounting and business systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Avalara, and Expensify, and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to coach and develop staff and to set team priorities during close and audit periods.
- Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A collaborative, self-directed approach, with the initiative to improve processes without waiting to be asked.
- Manual Dexterity: Repetitive motion of wrists, hands and fingers for using a computer.
- Stationary Tasks: Sitting for extended periods, remaining in a stationary position.
