ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assigns & directs the work of maintenance personnel to make sure that work is properly completed on assigned shift.
- Trains, mentors, and monitors maintenance personnel to make sure professional workmanship standards are met and safety procedures are being followed.
- Responds to machinery breakdowns, supports daily plant operations, & performs PM’s.
- Performs machinery set-ups, machinery configurations for changeover of different products, & sanitation teardowns.
- Performs new electrical & mechanical installations & modifications.
- Records information on work that has been performed on shift & training that has been provided.
- Reports issues and challenges with both machinery and personnel.
- Acts as role model for safety, job performance, quality of work, and procedural and process compliance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical & electrical problems & make appropriate repairs to get machines on line.
- Follows J&J Snack Food’s Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
- Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations.
- Enforces all company rules in a fair and consistent manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education and training: Electrical & Mechanical certification or 2 years equivalent experience in each discipline.
- Job-related experience: Minimum 2 year’s experience as a lead maintenance mechanic or foreman in a manufacturing environment.
- Managerial experience: N/A
- Technical knowledge and skills:
- Must be able to systematically troubleshoot and problem-solve electrical and mechanical systems and components.
- Requires strong technical aptitude & knowledge of standard mechanical and electrical practices, codes, & standards.
- Ability to learn new equipment and subjects with limited instruction (i.e., read manuals) and apply new knowledge to complete assignments.
- Must be able to walk, sit, & stand for several hours, and climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to lead others, organize and prioritize work, & assign personnel accordingly.
- Must know how to use test instruments such as digital multi-meter, gages, laptop computer, & various electronic devices, and standard hand & power tools.
- Welding, fabrication & machine tool knowledge preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to read blueprints, electrical drawings, and schematics.
- Must be able to understand and troubleshoot PLC, VFD, and Servo controllers.
- Must be able to fabricate from blueprints in wood, stainless, plastic, etc.
- Must have own tools and know how to use machine shop tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and punches.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) is highly desirable.
- Prefer certified welder or minimum 2 years On-the-Job training as a welder & knowledge of OSHA standards involving welding, such as hot work permit.
- Must be available to work any shift including weekends.
- Must be able to report to work to handle emergency repair work.
- Must have strong electrical and mechanical skills.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must have own tools and know how to use machines such as vertical mills, lathes, grinders, brakes, and shears.
