[What you will be working on]

As Deputy/Assistant Manager, Bus Rapid Transit Development, you will support the development and implementation of Singapore’s BRT system for Tuas South by leading detailed technical, operational and project workstreams covering BRT vehicles, infrastructure, stations, systems, operations, testing and commissioning.

Working closely with the Senior Manager and internal and external stakeholders, you will help translate the BRT concept into detailed technical and operational requirements, evaluate technology options and support the development of a Singapore-specific BRT solution that is safe, reliable, accessible and operationally sustainable.

What You Will Be Working On:

As the Deputy Manager, Bus Rapid Transit Development, you will manage key technical and operational workstreams that support the successful planning, procurement, testing and implementation of the BRT system, including:

• BRT System Development: Support the development of the overall BRT concept, system requirements and interface specifications covering vehicles, stations, infrastructure, control systems, fare collection, passenger information and operational systems.
   

• Vehicle and Technology Assessment: Evaluate higher-capacity BRT vehicles, including articulated, bi-articulated and emerging tram-like vehicles. Assess passenger capacity, boarding arrangements, door configuration, vehicle dimensions, accessibility, energy systems, charging or refuelling, driver interface, guidance systems, automation features, safety systems, maintainability and lifecycle costs.
   

• ​Infrastructure and Station Development: Support the development of BRT corridor, station and platform requirements, including dedicated lane configurations, traffic signal priority, passenger circulation, accessibility, platform-level boarding, station-based fare collection, depot facilities and charging or maintenance provisions.
   

• Operations and Service Planning: Develop operating concepts and service requirements, assess passenger capacity, headways, dwell times, journey times, turnaround needs and interaction with other road traffic, and define requirements for control, monitoring and incident management.
   

• Technical Studies and Analysis: Conduct technical studies, modelling, benchmarking and option assessments. Analyse passenger demand, capacity, journey time, operational performance, technology maturity, reliability, maintainability and lifecycle risks.
   

• Procurement and Tender Support: Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation and evaluation criteria. Review supplier proposals, designs, technical submissions and calculations, and support clarification meetings and negotiations with suppliers.
   

• Testing, Trials and Implementation: Develop testing and trial requirements for BRT vehicles and systems, coordinate prototype demonstrations and technology trials, support factory inspections, integration testing, commissioning and transition into revenue service.
   

• Safety and Risk Management: Identify technical and operational hazards, support system safety assessments, review safety-related designs and ensure appropriate testing, validation and corrective actions for critical systems.
   

• Stakeholder Management: Work with LTA divisions, public transport operators, consultants, contractors, technology suppliers and government agencies to coordinate technical interfaces, resolve issues and participate in site visits, workshops and benchmarking exercises.
   

• Project Management: Manage assigned BRT workstreams, track schedules, risks, issues and dependencies, prepare progress updates and support the Senior Manager in overall programme management.
   

Your work will help translate Singapore’s BRT ambitions into practical and implementable technical solutions, ensuring that system interfaces, operational requirements, safety considerations and deployment risks are properly defined and managed from concept through implementation.

[What we are looking for]

We are seeking a technically strong and self-driven individual with a passion for public transport technology, system integration and complex project delivery. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Educational Background: Knowledge in Engineering, Transport, Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
   

• Experience: At least 4 years of relevant experience in public transport, transport infrastructure, buses, rail, automotive, intelligent transport systems, traffic management, electric vehicle systems, automation or major engineering projects.
   

• Technical Expertise: Experience in one or more areas such as bus or rail vehicle systems, public transport operations, transport infrastructure, systems engineering, intelligent transport systems, automation or autonomous vehicles, charging systems, transport technology or major transport procurement will be advantageous.
   

• Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with good understanding of engineering principles, system interfaces, technical documentation and tender evaluation.
   

• Attributes: A proactive, independent and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple technical workstreams, work effectively with diverse stakeholders and translate complex technology concepts into practical implementation requirements.
