At Cleveland Clinic Florida, patients receive complete, compassionate care. Our urologists have the highest level of training in their field — and they understand the sensitive nature of urologic care. We specialize in conditions that affect the bladder, kidneys, prostate and male genitals. As a Clinical Assistant on the team, you will assist your fellow LPNs, RNs and other healthcare staff in providing exceptional patient support and attention. Most of your day will be spent on the phone triaging results and interacting with physicians to get patients their results quicker and answers to any questions that they may have. This position is a great introduction to the Cleveland Clinic enterprise before exploring further our numerous educational or professional development opportunities.  

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide professional nursing care to patients as appropriate. 

• Provide accurate medication administration and nursing documentation such as medical records, authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.  

• Implement pain management assessments and documentation. 

• Recognize changes in patient status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians. 

• Recognize and follow through with nursing intervention. 

• Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times. 

• Perform patient teaching as needed under the supervision of RN/Physician. 

• Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO. 

• Follow Code Blue protocol as per clinic policy. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program 

• Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)  

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

• Knowledge of Infection Control Practices 

• Computer literacy 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• One year of clinical experience 

Physical Requirements:

• Essential Duties: This position requires knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing; planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the patients progress through the entire continuum of car in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.
• Physical Duties: This position requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
• Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations.
• Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.
• Work is heavy, constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
• You will be stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment; also you will be reaching, handling, feeling and manipulation of equipment into position.
• Working Conditions: The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.
• The potential for exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is significant.
• Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• This position is high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
