The Opportunity
As Legal Counsel, you’ll be a key legal partner to leaders and teams across the business, providing practical, commercially focused advice. You’ll support a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, data privacy, and risk management.
Success in this role means helping the business move quickly while effectively managing legal and regulatory risk across our global operations.
This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment and wants to help shape the legal and compliance practices of a growing fintech.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide legal advice and support across the business, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations across Europe, Asia, and Americas.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
- Support corporate governance and entity management activities across our international entities.
- Act as the primary legal lead for data privacy and data protection matters.
- Help develop and improve legal, compliance, and regulatory processes and best practices.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and industry.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and service providers when required.
- Identify legal risks and provide practical recommendations to support business decision-making.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree from a recognised institution and relevant international legal experience.
- 5–8 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law, including meaningful in-house experience, preferably within payments, fintech, banking, SaaS, or a regulated technology environment.
- Understanding of financial services and banking regulations, including data protection, fraud, security, and risk-related matters.
- Broad corporate and commercial contracting experience, including cross-jurisdictional matters.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to balance legal and commercial considerations and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice.
- Proactive and comfortable working independently across different teams and jurisdictions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well organised and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with corporate governance and compliance obligations.
- Curious and adaptable when working with emerging technologies and evolving regulatory areas, including AI.
- Comfortable collaborating remotely across multiple time zones.
- Fluent in English. Additional languages are an advantage.
- Experience gained in both a leading international law firm and an in-house legal function would be an advantage.
- Experience supporting cryptocurrency, digital asset, payments, or fintech businesses would be an advantage.
