SMX is seeking a Lead Data Scientist. How would you like to be part of a leadership team made up of experts and senior level staff who have experience, capacity and capability to lead large scale portfolios? The leadership team will foster the organizational culture of high performing solution delivery. This position is onsite in Camp Springs, Maryland and requires a Top-Secret clearance.
Essential Duties
The Data Scientist Lead provides technical leadership for enterprise data analytics solutions under this task order, designing and modeling analytical architectures and implementing systems and databases that support end-user analytics. The position applies statistical, programming, and engineering methods; builds and optimizes SQL-based analytical data structures; and guides BI platform selection, architecture, and standards. The Data Scientist Lead enforces data quality and performance criteria, performs cost-benefit and tradeoff analyses of solution options, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and clearly communicates technical findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Min Yrs Relevant Experience: 3 years
- Bachelor's degree required
- USCIS Experience
- DHS Suitability
- Developed and deployed AI/ML/LLMs solutions
- Familiarity with SQL, Python/R, and visualization tools like Tableau

- Strong skills in translating technical concepts into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders
