Wells Fargo · Hybrid · CHARLOTTE, NC

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Category Sourcing Consultant to join the Corporate Services Strategic Sourcing Team as part of the Chief Administrative Office (CAO), with primary support for Marketing and Public Affairs technology sourcing initiatives. This role serves as the strategic sourcing subject matter expert for the enterprise marketing technology (MarTech) and advertising technology (AdTech) ecosystem, including AI-enabled marketing platforms, customer data infrastructure, and digital media supply chains.

In this role, you will:

Lead Sourcing Strategy & MarTech Category Management

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing lifecycle activities for complex, high-risk, and strategic Marketing and Public Affairs supplier engagements, including marketing technology (MarTech), advertising technology (AdTech), digital media, creative services, communications, research, events, sponsorships, and related technology-enabled services.
  • Develop and execute category strategies across the MarTech stack — enterprise marketing clouds, customer data platforms (CDPs), customer engagement and journey orchestration, marketing analytics and attribution, content and digital asset management, personalization, and generative AI marketing tools — that optimize costs, improve supplier performance, mitigate risk, and support enterprise business objectives.
  • Lead MarTech stack assessment and rationalization initiatives, identifying overlapping capabilities, underutilized licenses, and consolidation opportunities across the marketing technology portfolio.
  • Review expiring Marketing and Public Affairs agreements, identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, service improvements, cost reduction, and value creation, and support timely renewals or competitive sourcing events.

Contract Negotiation & Commercial Management

  • Lead all aspects of supplier negotiations, including development of MarTech category and negotiation strategies, vendor communications, proposal evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Negotiate modern SaaS and consumption-based commercial models, including monthly-active-user (MAU), message-volume, credit-based, and usage-based pricing structures, true-up mechanics, renewal caps, service credits, and professional services terms.
  • Negotiate AI-specific contract provisions, including AI and generative AI usage rights, restrictions on use of company and customer data for model training, model transparency and explainability obligations, and responsible AI commitments.
  • Negotiate commercial, operational, legal, governance, and risk-related terms — including data processing agreements, data residency, subprocessor management, security requirements, and exit and data portability provisions — while balancing stakeholder objectives, speed to market, and enterprise risk tolerance.
  • Draft, review, and manage contract language to address evolving business, technology, regulatory, and market requirements.

Supplier Relationship & Risk Management

  • Manage strategic supplier relationships throughout the contract lifecycle, driving performance, customer satisfaction, service improvements, and value realization.
  • Partner with Supplier Management, Third Party Risk Management, Legal, Information Security, Data Privacy, and Finance to ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements (including interagency third-party risk management guidance), and risk management standards.
  • Evaluate supplier security and compliance posture, penetration testing requirements, incident response obligations, and AI governance practices.
  • Resolve supplier disputes and proactively address supplier performance or risk concerns.

Stakeholder Partnership & Governance

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, business partners, vendors, and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with business units to define requirements, execute RFx events, evaluate suppliers, and support vendor selection decisions.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment on sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, contract terms, risk decisions, and implementation plans.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for sourcing initiatives across multiple business groups.

Compliance, Reporting & Implementation

  • Ensure contracts and sourcing activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements, including data privacy laws (GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR) and emerging AI regulation impacting marketing technology and customer data use.
  • Lead projects supporting regulatory compliance and sourcing process improvements.
  • Track, communicate, and report sourcing progress, realized value, risk considerations, and implementation readiness.

Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and subject matter expertise to less experienced sourcing professionals, Buyers, and business partners.
  • Educate stakeholders on sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and risk-related policies and processes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for complex sourcing and supplier management decisions, including MarTech vendor landscape trends, pricing benchmarks, and AI capability adoption.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Sourcing, Procurement experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, with a strong understanding of contract terms, conditions, risk management principles, and commercial impacts.
  • Comprehensive sourcing and contract negotiation experience supporting Marketing and Public Affairs categories, including marketing technology, digital media, creative agencies, communications, public relations, research, events, sponsorships, and related technology-enabled services.
  • Category expertise across the enterprise MarTech landscape, including marketing clouds and automation platforms, customer engagement and journey orchestration platforms, and content, creative, and digital asset management technologies.
  • Experience sourcing customer data platforms and marketing data infrastructure, including negotiation of data privacy, data residency, and data governance terms for platforms handling customer PII.
  • Knowledge of digital media and AdTech supply chains, including programmatic platforms, media agency compensation models, principal-based buying disclosures, and media transparency and audit rights.
  • Experience negotiating AI and generative AI provisions in supplier agreements, including data-training restrictions, AI usage rights, model governance, and responsible AI requirements.
  • Proven success leading end-to-end strategic sourcing engagements and supplier negotiations within a large, complex, highly regulated organization.
  • Ability to advise Marketing and Public Affairs stakeholders on supplier strategy, contract structure, sourcing approach, MarTech stack rationalization, risk considerations, and supplier performance opportunities.
  • Strong commercial, financial, benchmarking, and spend analysis capabilities — including SaaS license utilization analysis and third-party pricing benchmarks with the ability to develop data-driven sourcing and negotiation strategies.
  • Ability to effectively manage cross-functional stakeholders, including Legal, Risk, Finance, Technology, Information Security, Third Party Risk Management, and senior business leaders.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, third-party risk management practices (including interagency TPRM guidance), supplier governance, data privacy regulations (GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR), and regulatory requirements impacting supplier engagements and customer data use.
