The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Leads the analysis of high-throughput multi-omic data to investigate tumor evolution, therapeutic resistance, and radiation-related phenotypes. Integrates clinico-genomic and spatial-omics modalities using machine learning and custom statistical methods to evaluate microenvironment dynamics and clonal selection pressures under treatment. Directs bioinformatics operations, advises on complex oncological datasets, and develops educational materials for highly technical cancer biology research

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads complex multi-omic analyses, including genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data, to identify biomarkers of therapeutic resistance and generate patient-specific insights. Focuses on tumor evolution, pre- and post-treatment dynamics, treatment-related phenotypic changes, and genomic alterations. Develops and integrates multi-modal -omic datasets for advanced computational modeling and translational research.
  • Collaborates with faculty, clinicians, bioinformaticians, and research partners nationally and internationally to advance multidisciplinary research initiatives. Provides scientific and programmatic leadership, including establishing program structure, defining priorities, assessing needs, and recommending new capabilities, technologies, and processes.
  • Defines and oversees program goals, resources, milestones, deliverables, and services. Evaluates program effectiveness and implements improvements to enhance scientific rigor, efficiency, and impact. Conducts complex analyses, develops recommendations, and presents program outcomes and strategic priorities to University leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and delivery of complex, data-driven research initiatives and computational strategies. Identifies, recommends, and implements best practices, emerging technologies, analytical methodologies, and infrastructure to advance research objectives and ensure scientific rigor, reproducibility, scalability, and operational efficiency. Provides expert recommendations regarding research protocols, computational resources, data infrastructure, software platforms, and technology investments, including prioritization and allocation of program resources and expenditures. Establishes and maintains program standards, governance, workflows, and change-management policies and ensures consistent adherence across research activities. Oversees the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical, operational, and research documentation to support program continuity, compliance, collaboration, and long-term growth.
  • Leads and develops strategic collaborations across multidisciplinary teams and serves as a key scientific and programmatic liaison with faculty, clinicians, researchers, institutional leadership, and external partners across the University and at national and international institutions. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships that advance research priorities, facilitate knowledge and data sharing, align resources and expertise, and support the development and execution of complex, multi-institutional research initiatives.
  • Provides strategic oversight and management of program resources, including personnel, research and office space, computational infrastructure, software, equipment, supplies, and other technical resources. Develops resource allocation strategies and assigns staff and technical capabilities across multiple research initiatives based on program priorities, project complexity, timelines, and evolving operational needs. Identifies current and future staffing and infrastructure requirements to support program growth and sustainability. Participates in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, mentorship, performance management, and professional development of staff. Ensures resources are utilized effectively and efficiently to support research objectives, program deliverables, and institutional priorities.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and administration of internship and trainee programs established within the program. Defines program structure, learning objectives, recruitment and selection processes, onboarding, mentorship, and performance expectations. Coordinates with faculty, staff, and institutional partners to ensure meaningful research experiences, appropriate supervision, and alignment with broader scientific, educational, and workforce development goals. Evaluates program effectiveness and identifies opportunities for continued growth and improvement.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • PhD and 3 years relevant experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of data mining algorithms, including machine learning techniques required
  • Scientific insight and statistics background in the field of cancer research, biology, and bioinformatics required
  • Familiarity with next generation sequencing analysis workflows required
  • Strong proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as R and Python required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written skills required
