Über diese Lead Architect Stelle bei Beam AI
Beam AI builds AI agents that carry out business processes for enterprise customers. Our platform helps companies identify where agents can help, put them to work, and improve them based on real results.
We’re building for a world where software doesn’t just follow a fixed workflow. It learns from results and gets better over time.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Architect to build that organisation and help it deliver well as Beam grows.
You’ll lead through the engineers who run our squads: developing them, giving them real ownership and making sure teams can carry work from a customer problem through release and production. You’ll own engineering delivery, hiring and team structure, and work with Product and leadership to make sound choices about priorities and capacity.
You’ll stay close to the technical work. You should be able to review a design, get into code when it matters, help diagnose a production issue and ask the question a team may have missed. We also expect you to use AI coding tools yourself and help engineering adopt practices that make a measurable difference to how we build.
What You’ll Do
- Lead engineering across multiple product areas, with clear ownership for delivery and production quality.
- Develop engineering leads who can make technical decisions, manage people and deliver through their teams.
- Build the right team structure and hire for the capabilities we need as the product grows.
- Work with Product to turn priorities into realistic plans, resolve trade-offs and follow through after release.
- Guide technical direction across squads, especially where architecture, reliability or security decisions affect more than one team.
- Find what slows teams down and improve how they build, test and ship.
- Bring practical AI-assisted development into the team’s everyday work, with appropriate checks on quality and reliability.
Requirements
- Significant experience building software and leading engineering teams, including managing leads across multiple teams.
- Experience building or reshaping an engineering organisation while continuing to deliver a product.
- A hands-on technical background. You can still review code, assess architectural trade-offs and help a team work through a difficult failure.
- A track record of helping engineers become leads who take responsibility for people and delivery.
- Experience owning a software product beyond launch, including its reliability and improvement in production.
- Sound judgment about where to move quickly, where to invest in the foundations and when to change course.
- Current, practical use of AI coding tools and experience helping other engineers use them effectively.
Experience with TypeScript/Node.js, React/Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, event-driven systems or cloud infrastructure is useful, but our specific stack is not a hiring gate. Experience building AI products or software for enterprise customers would also be valuable.
You don’t need to have worked at a company identical to Beam. We’re interested in what you’ve owned, the decisions you made and what changed as a result.
How We Work
We keep teams small and give them meaningful ownership. Engineers are close to the product and to the customers their work serves. We move quickly, use AI in our daily work and expect people to be direct when something needs to change.
If you like building engineering teams without losing touch with engineering, we’d like to hear from you.
Benefits
At Beam, we're building an environment where ambitious people can do their best work, with clarity, purpose, and room to grow. We're thoughtful about what we build, how we work, and who we hire. The problems we're solving are real. The systems we're building are complex. And the people here care deeply about craft, about speed, and about doing work that actually matters.
We offer competitive compensation and benefits, equity, flexible working arrangements, work-from-anywhere, parental leave, and the opportunity to grow with a team that values high standards, meaningful work, and learning by doing.
You won't find rigid hierarchies or endless process here. You'll find high trust, high standards, and a team driven by curiosity, ownership, and long-term thinking.
What you can expect from us
Our culture is shaped by our values in action:
- We think in agentic workflows, uses AI tools daily, and looks for leverage through automation.
- We ship fast, learn faster, and favour experimentation over perfection.
- We invest in high-impact work and value ownership.
- We align on outcomes while giving people autonomy.
- We seek clarity, welcome feedback, and continuously improve.
Using AI in the Application Process: We encourage candidates to use AI thoughtfully throughout the application process. AI can support research and preparation, but we want to understand your own thinking, experience, and perspective.
If this is the kind of work you want to do and the kind of team you want to build with, we'd love to hear from you.
