A Day in Your Life at MKS:
The Lab Infrastructure & Test Equipment Engineer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and supporting laboratory infrastructure and engineering test equipment at the MKS Bangalore Engineering Lab. This role ensures that laboratory facilities, instrumentation, and test systems are fully operational, calibrated, safe, and available to support engineering development, validation, and product qualification activities. The individual will work closely with engineering teams, global lab personnel, facilities, EHS, IT, and external service providers to maintain a world-class laboratory environment.
You Will Make an Impact By:
• Support the setup, operation, and continuous improvement of laboratory infrastructure.
• Coordinate installation, commissioning, relocation, and decommissioning of laboratory equipment.
• Manage laboratory utilities including electrical power, compressed air, cooling water, gas distribution, vacuum systems, and environmental controls.
• Maintain laboratory layouts, equipment inventories, and infrastructure documentation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repair of engineering test equipment and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and develop corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all laboratory safety procedures.
Skills You Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of experience supporting engineering laboratories, test equipment, manufacturing test environments, or R&D facilities.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic or electromechanical test equipment.
• Understanding of calibration processes, metrology principles, and equipment asset management.
• Familiarity with laboratory utilities and infrastructure including power distribution, HVAC, compressed air, vacuum, and gas systems.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to use laboratory equipment and occasionally lift and move electronic equipment or test fixtures up to 25 pounds.
• Work is performed in office and engineering laboratory environments.
• Regular use of electronic test equipment and prototype hardware for product development, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
