The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has a position that might be right for you. The person in this Information Technology Analyst II position on the OCIO DBA Team will be working daily with team members supporting database management services for agencies within Nebraska State Government.

Job Duties: Under minimal supervision, you will work with various IT teams and customers to develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify and implement solutions while providing database administration support. Responsibilities of this role include database infrastructure, design, implementation, maintenance, security, backup and recoverability, troubleshooting, performance tuning, software installation, documentation, and mentoring other IT Analysts and IT Application Developers. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring availability and reliability of databases as well as collaborating with IT Application Developers to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. Additional daily tasks include completing service requests and resolving incidents within established service level agreements (SLAs) and establishing and maintaining communication with customers to keep them updated with the status of their requests. Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field of study and three years related experience or A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience. Experience may include application programming, software installation and software maintenance, including systems programming, online programming, database design, analysis and programming using IFS and/or SQL/DS and database administration. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with database management concepts, principles and methods including database logical & physical design as well as normalization. Knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures; data administration and data standardization policies, standards and methods; IT database security principles/methods; technical documentation procedures. Strong analytical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database errors. Ability to mentor other IT Analysts and IT Application Developers. Experience with SQL Server Installation, applying security updates and maintenance. Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms. Good multi-tasking abilities. Experience with creating technical documentation. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio, Structured Query language (SQL), SolarWinds DPA, WinSCP, DB2 Connect and Windows command line commands. Experience with DB2 on z/OS, z/OS TSO JCL, IBM Suite of tools, IBM DB2 utilities, as well as basic office tools such as Microsoft Office, Clarity, and Teams.
Other: Candidate will possess regular and reliable attendance as well as excellent time management skills. Be able to provide on-call support outside of 8-5 business hours. Exhibits cooperative and collaborative behavior with teammates.

Candidates must be service oriented, have strong interpersonal and analytical skills that include working directly with various levels of business and technical staff to determine sound technical solutions for business requirements. Candidates must have strong technical, organization and planning, problem solving, decision-making and documentation skills.
