Job Summary
The Ironworker/Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing structural steel and metal components for industrial, commercial, construction, and mining projects. This role requires expertise in welding processes, blueprint interpretation, steel erection, and adherence to safety regulations while working at heights and in physically demanding environments.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel components using SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux Core), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) processes as required.
- Erect and install structural steel, platforms, handrails, stairs, supports, and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, drawings, and specifications.
- Measure, cut, align, and assemble metal components to project requirements.
- Operate welding equipment, torches, grinders, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other construction tools safely.
- Perform field welding, repairs, and modifications on structural and mechanical systems.
- Inspect welds and completed installations for quality and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and safety inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- GED or High School Diploma.
- TWIC Card and/or Real IDs are required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and weld specifications.
- Proficiency with multiple welding processes and cutting methods.
- Experience working at heights and in industrial or construction environments.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Welding certifications (AWS, CWB, or equivalent) preferred.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, ironwork, or welding.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks during long shifts.
- Skilled in math which includes adding and subtracting fractions.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must pass a background check and do a drug screening.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Welder
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- NCCER Ironworker Certification
- Aerial Lift Certification
- Forklift Certification
- MSHA Certification (for mining projects)

- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment.

- Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
