Your role and responsibilities

At ABB Process Automation, we are transforming the way operators interact with industrial systems through modern software, advanced analytics, and Artificial Intelligence.

We are looking for a passionate Full Stack Software Developer Intern to join our Research & Development team in Genova and contribute to the next generation of web-based industrial applications.

As part of an international R&D organization, you will work on real software products used worldwide, helping design and implement modern user interfaces, cloud-connected services, and AI-powered capabilities for our Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms.

This internship is ideal for students interested in Frontend Development, Full Stack Engineering  and Generative AI who want to apply their skills to real-world products operating in critical industrial environments.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Design and develop modern web applications for industrial automation systems.
• Create responsive and intuitive user experiences using modern frontend technologies and frameworks.
• Collaborate with software architects, UX designers, and backend developers to build scalable full-stack solutions.
• Develop and integrate APIs and backend services using modern development practices.
• Explore and prototype AI-powered features leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies.
• Work with tools and technologies such as TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, .NET, Docker, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Copilot, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.

Qualifications for the role

• Education: a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Technical Skills: knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript, React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and Git version control.
• Knowledge of C# and .NET is a plus.
• Knowledge of docker and containerized applications, Cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code is a plus.
• Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning or Generative AI projects is a plus.
• Languages: good spoken and written English and Italian.
• Soft Skills: problem-solving mindset and ability to work effectively in an international team environment.
