Internal Communications Manager: Engineering, Technology & Safety

Derby or Bristol – Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Full time – 1-year maternity cover

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an Internal Communications Manager to shape and deliver internal communications for the Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) function in Derby or Bristol.

You will help colleagues understand and engage with ET&S priorities, engineering expertise and its role in Rolls-Royce’s transformation.

What you will be doing:

As Internal Communications Manager: Engineering, Technology & Safety, you will be responsible for communications that engage employees in our strategic priorities and build credibility in our narrative, aligned with the company communications strategy and corporate narrative.

• Plan and deliver the ET&S internal communications strategy, including campaigns and change communications, to build our reputation for engineering expertise and create a culture of high performance, belonging and safety.
• Commission and draft content that turns complex engineering and technical subjects into clear and compelling stories to demonstrate our engineering narrative across the organisation.
• Identify opportunities across our channel mix to drive stronger colleague understanding of ET&S priorities and business capability programmes that support our ongoing organisation-wide transformation.
• Work across functions and Rolls-Royce divisions to bring the ET&S story to a broader colleague audience and identify opportunities for shared storytelling.
• Use colleague insight and listening to prioritise activity, set clear measures of success, evaluate impact and continually improve communications.
• Advise and influence ET&S leaders and experts, helping them communicate with greater clarity and impact.

Position Qualifications:

• Proven track record of developing and influencing internal communications plans for a complex, cross-functional team within a highly matrixed organisation.
• Outstanding writing and editorial skills, with proven ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly and credibly.
• Experience developing insight-led communications strategies with measurable outcomes.
• Credibility and confidence advising and influencing senior leaders within a complex organisation.
• Strong collaborative approach, with a proven track record of excellent teamwork with senior peers.

Preferred Requirements:

• Passion for and knowledge of engineering, technology, innovation and/or safety communications.
• Experience of handling confidential information which may be business-sensitive or related to government security.
• Track record of managing communications and/or creative agencies to time and budget.
• Ability to coach teams to get the best out of agency relationships.
