Project Title:

PECVD/ALD process modeling, development and characterization

Project Description:

·         Developing CVD/ALD process to meet structural and electrical specifications.

·         Develop numerical model for the deposition process using fundamental physics/chemistry knowledge and establish correlation to processing data.

·         Investigating root cause defect and unique fail mode analysis.

·         Updating the Fab engineers on project issues and technology needs.

Project Scope:

As a R&D CVD/ALD Process Development Engineer (Intern) at Micron Semiconductor Asia Operations Pte. Ltd., you will gain hands on experience in developing, designing, and optimize CVD/ALD processes for Micron's leading-edge memory/storage parts. You will solve challenging technical problems to mature your process and module. Your primary areas of responsibility will include development and characterization of plasma CVD/ALD processes, optimization, troubleshooting, and fundamental research.

You will be assigned a mentor and engage in a collaborative atmosphere where you interact with larger process development group and various other groups such as process integration, electrical failure analysis, yield enhancement, manufacturing, internal equipment teams and equipment vendors to ensure robust CVD/ALD processes are developed that meet the precise physical and electrical requirements for Micron products. This position requires you to have an aptitude for a research and development environment, good organization skills and the ability to deliver independently or in a team environment. This role is designed to provide immersive experience into semiconductor process technology with focus in CVD/ALD area through working on real challenges that are at the leading frontiers of memory process technology.

·         You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to jointly develop device structures.

·         Participate in multi-functional failure analysis and yield improvement.

·         You will learn from Seniors in recipe creation and process development

Deliverable:

A characterized CVD/ALD process recipe and model that addresses the defined project requirements.

Skillset Required:

·         Knowledge of Transport phenomena, Electromagnetics, Atomic/Molecular physics, and Surface phenomena

·         Knowledge of principles of CVD/ALD processing and have an understanding of plasma sources used in plasma deposition.

·         Knowledge of thin film characterization techniques.

·         Solid trouble shooting, experimental design and data analysis skills

·         Knowledge of plasma and feature scale modeling is encouraged

·         AI proficiency or AI‑enabled ways of working where applicable. Familiarity with AI tools or AI-enabled workflows.

·         Familiarity (expertise preferred) in scripting, data analysis software such as Python, R, and JMP

·         Understanding of process control and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

·         An understanding of solid-state devices (optional)

Course of Interest:

·         The ideal candidate should be pursuing MS/PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (other related engineering/ science majors).

Duration of Period:

The Ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full-time internship period of 4 months.
