Department Overview

The AI Engineering Platform team builds and operates the cloud infrastructure, platforms, and automation capabilities that power Micron's analytics, machine learning, and AI workloads. By using cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AI-enabled solutions, the team delivers scalable, secure, and reliable platforms that accelerate innovation and engineering productivity across the enterprise.

Position Overview

As a Platform Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the infrastructure and platforms that enable AI, analytics, and cloud-based solutions at Micron. You will gain hands-on experience with cloud technologies, Kubernetes, automation, Infrastructure as Code, AI-enabled tools, and platform operations while contributing to real-world projects that improve scalability, reliability, and engineering efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support cloud platform, Kubernetes, and infrastructure projects while collaborating with global platform engineering teams.
• Develop scripts, automation tools, dashboards, and monitoring solutions that improve platform reliability, operational visibility, and resource utilization.
• Assist with platform support, operational activities, and customer requests while learning enterprise platform engineering protocols.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, build proof-of-concept solutions, and contribute to platform improvements related to cloud infrastructure, AI, and automation.
• Develop and leverage AI-powered tools and agentic workflows to improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, and decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant experience through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, hackathons, or internships in software development, cloud computing, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Experience programming in Python, Go, Java, Bash, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems, cloud computing concepts, and modern software development fundamentals.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills with demonstrated interest in Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), AI platforms, Generative AI, and Agentic AI technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, or cloud platforms through coursework, projects, certifications, or internships.
• Familiarity with Git, version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation practices.
• Knowledge of AI/ML platforms, machine learning frameworks, data pipelines, SQL, or analytics technologies.
• Experience building automation tools, AI-assisted workflows, dashboards, monitoring solutions, or cloud-native applications.
• Interest in pursuing a career in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or AI Infrastructure.
