Job Description

Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible. The position is being filled through an emergency appointment. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements. Occasional travel to Fallon is required.

The Instructional Technology Manager brings leadership and innovation to the management of instructional and audiovisual technology. Through close collaboration with academic faculty and departmental staff, the Manager is responsible for identifying needs and opportunities as they relate to the creation, planning, management, deployment, evaluation and support of instruction and special events-related audiovisual technologies. The Manager is also responsible for supervision of Audiovisual personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the management and deployment of audiovisual services college-wide, including, but not limited to media such as presentation systems, A/V projectors, and interactive-video, in locations such as classrooms, conference/meeting rooms, computer labs and the library.

  • Create, maintain and troubleshoot connections between a wide variety of electronic audiovisual equipment.

  • Serves as project manager over area activities, facilitating and tracking project status, identifying problems and opportunities, and applying effective solutions to ensure audiovisual services are completed on schedule and at the highest levels of quality.

  • Leads audiovisual staff in the creation and delivery of effective instructional and audiovisual technology training and helpdesk operations.

  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and serves as the liaison between these individuals and the department; participates in committees and work groups as needed.

  • Actively assesses college instructional and audiovisual technology needs, operational standards, procedures compliance, relevance and effectiveness of deliverables through collection, assessment, and analysis of data; communicates status and recommendations to the IT Services Director; produces timely reports.

  • Proactively identifies challenges, barriers, and areas of opportunity for the department; creates and implements solutions.

  • Actively participates in the development and execution of departmental projects, initiatives, and operations; takes a lead role in identifying and implementing ways the department can support college initiatives.

  • Work with multiple vendors in obtaining competitive bids for audiovisual projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains awareness of trends and relevance in instructional and audiovisual technology, particularly as they relate to higher education settings.

  • Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates proficiency with department software and technology.

  • Effective written and oral interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to see, analyze, assess, and create solutions and opportunities.

  • Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines; strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse users, staff, and faculty.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision; be self-motivated and independently prioritize work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of related professional experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree  (i.e., AA+4 yrs related professional experience).  A minimum of an Associate's degree is required.

Minimum Starting Salary:

This position is at a salary grade C. The minimum of the placement range is $73,531.55. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNC's placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE

All faculty and professional staff working at least half-time equivalent must participate in the NSHE Faculty Retirement Plan Alternative (RPA) as a condition of employment. The current contribution rate is 19.25%. Your contribution is matched by the College at 19.25%.

Your contributions are made by pre-tax salary reduction and you are 100% vested from your first day. You choose how to invest your own and NSHE’s contributions. The plan administrator provides dedicated financial consultants that are available to assist you in your investment deliberations. NSHE provides participants with a three-tiered investment line-up that provides investment options for everyone, from the less engaged investor to the investor who prefers to more actively manage their retirement savings. Faculty and staff who have previously participated in the Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada (PERS) may be required to continue participation in PERS. 


The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) does not participate in the federal Social Security System but does contribute to the federal Medicare program. This means that while you are employed by NSHE neither you nor NSHE contribute to Social Security and you do not earn a Social Security benefit.
