Job Description: Indirect Tax Compliance Preparer (APAC)

Location- Bengaluru

Role Overview:

Support the Indirect Tax Team in preparing, reviewing, and submitting indirect tax returns (VAT/GST) across multiple APAC jurisdictions. Ensure compliance with local and global tax regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to process improvements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver timely and accurate tax filings.

Flexibility to work remotely and hybrid model, with on-site presence as required by business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Indirect Tax Compliance

• Prepare data reconciliations and draft indirect tax compliance reports for review and approval across the APAC region (experience in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand preferred).
• Submit VAT/GST returns and related filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain thorough documentation to support tax filings and audits.
• Monitor and process payments or refunds related to indirect tax positions.
• Support the review and approval workflow, coordinating with reviewers and managers as needed.
• Assist in monitoring intercompany transactions and clearing processes for compliance.

Audit Support & Risk Management

• Provide supporting documentation for indirect tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
• Assist in responding to audit requests and resolving issues under supervision.
• Identify and escalate potential compliance risks.

Process Improvement

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of indirect tax compliance processes.
• Support the implementation of new regulatory requirements and system updates.

Collaboration

• Work closely with finance, trade compliance, and other business functions to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.
• Liaise with external compliance providers and local contacts as required.

Ownership Approach

• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver results with urgency.

• Respond to setbacks with resilience and a commitment to improvement.

• Seek and provide constructive feedback to support team development.

Technical Knowledge & Experience

• Overall, 4-5yrs of experience in Finance/Tax Department with relevant experience should be minimum 3 years in indirect tax compliance, preferably in a multinational environment, shared service center, or Big 4 firm.
• Familiarity with VAT/GST return preparation and submission processes across APAC.
• Experience with tax software and ERP systems such as SAP, OneSource, or Deloitte ITC tool preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally on technical matters.

Education & Additional Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field. MBA preferred
• Fluent in English required, additional APAC language a plus.
